1. Here's the link
Kerry touts Clinton, Carter as envoys

NEW YORK -- Senator John F. Kerry said yesterday he would appoint two envoys to assist Israeli-Palestinian peace negotiations and to "build bridges" to the Islamic world if he wins the White House next year, and described former presidents Bill Clinton and Jimmy Carter as "uniquely qualified" for the first post.

Kerry said he discussed the idea with both men and he thought they would "welcome it and embrace it." Spokeswomen for the former presidents confirmed the conversations.

In a major foreign policy speech yesterday calling for "an era of new alliances," a phrase he used five times, Kerry said as president he would swiftly convene a summit of European and world leaders to plan a new strategy against terrorism, and that he also might tap the "great talent" in the Republican Party for special international assignments.

The Clinton haters are certainly out in full force on CSPAN. :eyes:

You have that right about the Clinton Haters. They want him in prison for perjury rather than have him solve a few World Problems. :silly:

4. One caller was too funny....
The caller said that how can Clinton be an envoy to the middle east after what he did in the Oval Office.....hahaha....yes, a president can lie our sons and daughters into a war that never had to be, hundreds of hundreds of our soldiers are now dead, families are ruined, a CIA agent is outed and on the run for her life, nothing done to prevent 911 and then hide documents related to 911 so no real investigation can be done.....but this is all okay as long as the president does not get a BJ? haha...it was not so sad it would even be funnier!

6. Proles: NYT's article said he would also consider James Baker, Link here:

Democrat Would Name Top Envoy to Mideast Process
By REUTERS

Published: December 3, 2003

Filed at 2:12 a.m. ET

WASHINGTON (Reuters) - Democratic White House hopeful John Kerry said on Wednesday he would quickly appoint an ambassador to the Middle East peace process -- and named two former presidents and an ex-secretary of state as likely candidates -- if he won the 2004 election.

The Massachusetts senator is one of nine Democrats vying for the right to challenge President Bush as he seeks a second term next year. Kerry said among ``the handful of uniquely qualified'' Americans he would consider for the post were past Democratic Presidents Jimmy Carter and Bill Clinton, as well as Republican James Baker, a former secretary of state.

``Leaders of good will on both sides -- private citizens as well as public officials -- are working to advance the peace process, with some of them offering the outlines of a final settlement,'' Kerry said in remarks prepared for delivery at the Council on Foreign Relations in New York.

Laying out his foreign policy plans for the first 100 days of a Kerry administration, the senator said he would move immediately to rebuild U.S. alliances and define a global security strategy that was collective, not ``imperial.''

10. Some people are convinced Dean is an ingenius innovator
But the truth is there's not a single issue he's lead on except for taking advantage of the Bush-hating peaceniks in our party- something Dean is not himself.

5. Kerry would send, Carter, Clinton or James Baker. Odd they focused on
Clinton. If you need what Kerry said, it's been posted all over DU.

But, C-Span decides to trash both Kerry and Clinton this am when Kerry definitely gave other choices (including that SOB Baker), but this is C-Span and the rest of the media's way of "spinning" the story. Make Clinton the issue not Baker.

12. because Clinton and his penis are evil!
Sorry inserting a little bit of the lounge in here, now I dont know, I like the fact he would consider Carter, Baker  but J17 I did read what you have showed and its not bad, and I prefer we focus on the positive things like the fact he would consider Carter or Clinton too and likely more so than Baker. People love to nitpick at shit like this, thats why we saw what we saw last night, people want to hate other candiates I feel at times.
