Dick Gregory is FORCING me to think
His suspicions arise from the fact that Michael Jackson has taken out loans and his lenders wanted collateral, which was none other than his Beatles catalog. Mr. Gregory stated that Michael Jackson did not mind offering that up as collateral because every time he would come out with a record he would make around $500 million from his efforts. For those who doubt those claims, he explained that there is a mischaracterization that occurs when people think about what is success for Michael Jackson. Although he may not achieve the outrageous sales of his more youthful days a majority of successful artists sales would pale by comparison.

Mr. Gregory found it odd that every time Michael Jackson is about to come out with an album or moneymaking venture he is hit with a scandal and that this situation is no different. He also admonished the audience not to forget that Michael Jackson embarrassed SONY and music mogul Tommy Mottola when he claimed that they were racist and that they took advantage of and mistreated Black artists.

Not holding anything back, Mr. Gregory stated that Rev. Al Sharpton, who came to the defense of Michael Jackson during this time was soon overwhelmed by media coverage of a video tape which showed individuals attempting to frame him in a drug deal. He went even further stating that this type of behavior could be traced to Bill Cosby and the suspicious murder of his son Ennis, who was gunned down while changing the tire of his Mercedes on a California highway. He claims that this happened after Mr. Cosby hinted that he wanted to purchase NBC when it was up for sale.

1. Bill Cosby's son's murder was definitely tragic and it is unfortunate

no one has been arrested but Michael Jackson's case is a little different. I do think that Cosby's son was a victim but i am having a difficult time equated that with Michael Jackson.
If any neighbor of mine were to change their face drastically and paint themselves white, abuse painkillers, lie about how many surgeries he has had, lie about why he paints himself sooo white, overspend, and have sleepovers with little boys, I would think that the person has a couple of screws loose. Knowing the scrutiny he would be under after the case in the early 90's, I just have to question why Michael wouldn't entertain kids in his backyard and then call it a night.

3. Sweetpea -- educate yourself and lose the bias
please reread the article. I really don't care about Jackson's appearance -- not in this forum anyway. What Mr. Gregory is saying goes way beyond odd behavior and appearance.

And an Ukranian immigrant, Mikail Markhasev, was found guilty for murdering Ennis Cosby.

Bias depends on what side of the coin you are on.

As far as Michael is concerned, he is in trouble because of his behavior. He has a spending problem and almost lost his catalog from that alone.

And if Michael made 500 million from his efforts, that means his label, management, promoters, publishers also made money.

occasionally, i try to make a list of prominent (edit: black male) figuress who have not been 'tainted' somehow. just lived a happy life in the public eye. it is not easy to do. no claims here, just thinking.

there is so much that influences public opinion. so many activities and ulterior motives...

michael jackson and bill cosby and al sharpton included.

7. Cat, glad you posted this. I've thought from the beginning there was more
to the latest Jacson incident than was being reported, and have tried to post here on DU, asking folks to look beyond the "pedophile" charges.

Jackson has made himself a freak and is very strange, but the rush to judgement, the searching of his home with all the reporters, the press conference that was "obscene" in my view announcing that they were searching Jackson's belongings and had a "forensic" truck there to take out "evidence"....all when Bush makes his trip to visit Buddy Blair was contrived. Follow the money.........

We know the Press is manipulated and that "crossing "Powers that Be" often ends up in disgrace or demise.
