Follow the money (NY Daily News reports on Clark/Dean $$ efforts in NYC)
Follow the money

That man you see collecting money on the sidewalk isn't really Santa Claus: He's a Democrat running for President. Cup-rattling candidates are descending on New York to fund their final sprint into the primaries, which start next month.

Wesley Clark dusts down for a "Four Star Gala" next Wednesday at the Grand Hyatt, with guests expected to include Al Franken, Robert De Niro and Vanessa Williams . The fickle Franken also attended last night's John Kerry fund-raiser.

Meanwhile, Howard Dean paints the town blue on Monday with a roast hosted by Rob Reiner , featuring Janeane Garofalo, John Leguizamo, Sandra Bernhardt and Kate Clinton . He then heads to San Francisco, where he will be feted by Phoebe Snow, Bonnie Raitt and David Crosby next week. The Dean machine has also poached former Kerry supporters Carly Simon, Morgan Fairchild and Michelle Phillips .

I think its important to note that whenever a celeb attends a political event people just assume that that celeb is supporting said candidate exclusively. Did you notice the mention of Franken also attending a Kerry fundraiser? Remember that while Mellencamp is doing an event in Chicago for Dean next week he did one for Clark in Indiana on 11/22. I say all this to say, unless a candidate has been quoted as saying he or she exclusively supports a particular candidate we should assume they are ABB.

2. I think it's important
Especially now that these celebs support the Dem candidates however and wherever they can. It generates interest among the voters to see that these men are supported by the very people they watch on TV or film or listen to their music. I believe that a majority of celebs want to see ABB and will make sure that whenever they can, they will provide support to a Dem, they will do so. Wasn't it Larry David's wife who just had that huge fundraiser in LA to stoke the fires for a Dem president next year? No one can say it's a liberal thing anymore - not after the gropenator.

I agree - spread the wealth, spread the word. We have to get AWOL out of the WH.

3. I sort of resent. . .
. . .that they called Carly Simon, Morgan Fairchild and Michelle Phillips "former Kerry supporters." Were they ever Kerry supporters, did they claim to be Dean supporters? I think we should just realize that they are all ABB. Hell Vanessa Williams sang at Arnold Schwarzenegger's ingauration.
