Schwarzenegger Says He Has No Backup Plan If Bond Deal Fails
Governor Says 'Failure Is No Option'

POSTED: 4:58 p.m. PST December 1, 2003
UPDATED: 5:02 p.m. PST December 1, 2003

LOS ANGELES -- Gov. Arnold Schwarzenegger said Monday he doesn't have a backup plan if the Legislature or voters reject his propsal to sell $15 billion worth of bonds to pay off the state's existing deficit.

"Failure is no option. It just doesn't exist," the Republican governor said. Without a backup, he said, "that means it has to happen."

To push the plan, which must be approved by the Legislature by midnight Friday, the new governor said he's ready to take his budget proposal to the voters in recalcitrant lawmakers' districts and he will invite legislators to join him in pushing the bond deal.

7. It would be tremendous if the CA Legislature
handed Arnie a BIG defeat on this one right out of the box. All they need to do is stick to their guns, claim he's running up a credit card debt that future Californians will be loathe to pay (which he is), and point out his crony capiltalism waiting in the wings.

The Dems in CA need to come up with a single spokesperson to counter Arnie's repig BS. If they look like a herd of cats it will add to his media advantage. I suggest they find a female spokeswoman, get her out there, and drive this asshole into his political grave, early and often.

NO HONEYMOON!!

6. Opuhn da boooks. Close da boooks. Repeat.
But he said that was going to work?

Psst. Fix propositon 13. There's no reason the middle class should bear all the burden of paying property taxes. There's no reason big businesses should pay property taxes are rates based on 1980's property valuations which mean many big businesses pay much less per square foot than your average middle class homeowner (who isn't using their house solely to make money, unlike big businesses).
