Bush has been a blessing to the Democratic Party
I believe the trainwreck has done more for us than anything we could have done.

I would bet that recruitment for new voters is going gangbusters. His Iraq debacle alone would have caused an exodus of voters to come over to the light.
I dont have facts but my instincts tell me the military sitting in Iraq is quickly realizing our policies were the real deal.

1. yup, that's why I'm not scared about Bush winning in 2004...
because he'll screw things up even more... the more things get worse, the better chance for a change in leadership. :D I want Bush to lose by a landslide in 2004, but if he wins, or steals the election again; it won't be the end of the world.

5. I'm not sure I count as a "new" recruit...
since I've consistently voted Dem for Congressional seats. But I voted Green for Prez in 2000, and was a registered independent until about three weeks ago. And yes, I will be voting for the Dem this time around (but only because I'm pretty damned sure it's not going to be Lieberman).

I totally agree that Bush seems to be making it pretty easy to beat him in 2004. And ironically, that's one of the reasons I can't really buy into the ABB rhetoric. I view the new potential strength of the party as an opportunity to truly change not just the country's leadership, but also the direction of the party itself. The Clinton years tied the party far too closely to the same corporate concerns that have ruled the Repubs, and I think now is our chance to break free and insure that the Democratic party goes back to being the party of social justice, labor rights, and the collective good.

"ABB" implies that the Democratic party is fine just as it is, but I think the black hole of the Bush administration has given us the potential to make it something so much better.

4. I see 1992 all over again as a possibility.
After having a President named George Bush, and a bad economy, we can get an intelligent person who will potentially serve two terms as president. (I hope w/o the scandal).

Bush has successfully galvanized me against the Republicans.

6. The increasing reports of US military desertions in Iraq....
would support your feelings on this. I am waiting anxiously for substantiation of such reports.
