Pittsburgh = "Knowledge City"
http://www.whitehouse.gov/news/releases/2003/12/20031202-5.html

THE PRESIDENT: I appreciate you coming. Thanks for being here. It's great to be back in Knowledge City. (Applause.) Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania. (Applause.)

I was sent this in an email. Apparently, Bush paused for a long time trying to think of what to call Pittsburgh, other than the "Steel City", and all he could come up with was "Knowledge City". Apparently the audience was in stunned silence for a few seconds.

He would have known he was about to lift the tariffs in just a couple of hours, and he didn't want to give away a juicy soundbite that would bite him back later.

Damn, I wish I had that on video. Can anyone with a Tivo make an MPEG clip of it?

yeah, our President's the best when he's just wingin' it, ya know - really relaxed improvisation - that's his thing.

3. That is classic Bushlexia.
Like the time he couldn't say "Shame on me" because he has no shame.

5. You have a point about him not wanting to call it steel
I think he wanted to stay the steel city (As almost every other president has) but had a Freudian pause, because of the recent steel tariff decision.

8. It's bound to find a home on the Internet,
maybe even at Comedy Central right now. Or even at whitehouse.gov. They have some video of speeches there.

9. Yup his pea size brain associated 'steel' with 'knowledge'
As in - once they gain 'knowledge' that I wimped out on the 'steel' tariffs I'm political toast.

-Or-

He really is that stupid.
