We should have an online library here at DU of the founding fathers

Most of the founding fathers were liberal/progressive. Heck, we can even add John Marshall in there since he was one of the greatest SCOTUS judges there ever was.

But most of the times, you hear the freepers rambling that "Blah, Blah, Blah, the founding fathers said this, blah blah". Well, maybe we can have an online library here at DU which details the lives of these great people and their ideas. We don't have to censor Jefferson's adulterous affairs or his slavery involvement. However, we can do them justice by presenting the truth that surrounds their lives.

It would be good if we got back to our roots because if you don't where you came from, how will you know where you will go?

1. The one that gets me is

"Our Founding Fathers were God-fearing men." First, the whole idea of fearing God as being a good thing makes me want to puke. Second, not a one of the would have the slightest use for Xtianism.

How I wish one of them could come back for just a day and tell the Freepers how utterly wrong they are.

2. 'Liberal'

They were liberal in the sense of Classical Liberalism (not synonymous with modern liberalism).

Also, compared to their contemporaries, they were VERY progressive.

Still, we must not forget that these were not very enlightened men(in practice at least). Their views on women and people of color would make many modern conservatives blush(and I am being very generous here).
