The third way
let's just say...

dean and clark are on to something with their "what is bush hiding re 9-11" angle.

surfing through their social darwinian web network, I noticed lots of moderate conservatives who are non-plussed with these neo-cons and this dumb ass Iraqnam war, the soaring deficit, and the sight of fellow "fiscal conservative" republicans diving headlong into the trough. OINK. OINK.

listen...

cover ups happen with the help of both parties. the integrity of the office of the presidency must be maintained. treason can't even be hinted at. Just impropriety - maybe Bush had received a warning he from someone he didn't reveal. An "honour thing" he'll say. Rove's last act before being sent to a velvet-chaired think tank post will be to "leak" that the person not named was now dead and Dubya had promised the wife...yadda,yadda...

so...

top dogs for the dems and reps get together.

Bush resigns rather than reveal his private briefing papers, and the PNACers are set packing back off to their think tanks never to direct freign policy again. (yeah right, they'll just go into stasis mode awaiting their next chance)

Dick Cheney has another heart episode and is in such bad shape that his private doctor won't let the media see him. The doctor says Mr. cheney's best days were behind him. Frankly, we don't know what his days alike will be. Touch and go. Talk softly, don't disturb Mrs. Lynn Cheney, she's working on another children's book...

In an emergency session, the Vice President's resignation is accepted and Secretary of State Colin Powell takes over the "head of state" designation until the election.

The Reps will nominate the moderate John McCain.

The Dems will then nominate John Kerry. Another moderate.

Hopefully, whoever wins, sanity will be somewhat restored. Whoever wins will reach out to the UN and I'll bet you a dime to a donut that the gesture will be embraced.

Back to the skilled art of diplomacy. Not the skilled savagery of War. No more endless "War Of Global Terror", but a multi-lateral approach to fighting the right terrorists in the right spots while considering the root causes of terrorism and how it can be stopped before it happens.

Maybe there'll even be room for Vice-President Kucinich's Department Of Peace. We can dream...

3. Just a dream, unfortunately
When I heard that they got to Max Cleland, that did it.

Before Bush's involvement in 9-11 would even be allowed to gain steam...i'm afraid...

Indeed:

"My father's no different than any other powerful man. Like a senator or president."

"You know how naïve you sound? Senators and presidents don't have men killed".

"Oh. Who's being naïve, Kay?"—Michael Corleone in "The Godfather".
