Clark On Rise In New Hampshire

http://www.boston.com/news/politics/president/clark/articles/2003/12/06/clark_on_rise_in_new_hampshire/

"Someone's going to end up being the opposition to Dean," said pollster Dick Bennett, president of the Manchester-based American Research Group. "I'm tending to think that it may be Clark."

If Clark ends up going to the White House, these past two weeks might mark the start of the turnaround. His response to the Republican Party's latest ads -- "I'm not attacking the president because he's attacking terrorists; I'm attacking him because he isn't attacking terrorists" -- popped up on television screens throughout the country. His latest stump speeches have drawn a positive response from crowds. And polls in New Hampshire this week registered a small but definite uptick.

This article recognizes Clark's momentum over the last few weeks, and highlights how many voters are still making decisions about who to support.

It is a balanced article, as it highlights another person giving up on Kerry and turning to Dean.

Dean has a sizable lead in NH
Dean is unstoppable
Dean is running nationwide 1hr infomercials
Dean raised 15million dollars in 2 hours
He's funding the whole democratic party
He's gonna win SC, MI, NM, IA, GA, and all the other primaries
He stays in a homeless shelter to save dough unless it is a conference room for the DNC then he pays 50,000 for the weekend
The bat broke in 2 mins
His house parties raised 200 million...
(just a joke)edit
Phew...now let's discuss Clark in NH

10. Wow, good point
You made me think of something that has escaped me up until this point. The more strong ALL of our candidates look, the more formidable we are as a party, a unified force in the GE. Thanks!

12. You know,
I like Howard Dean very much, but the labels he's been branded with - angry, short fuse, thin skinned, media-hating,
Bush-hating - worry me. After what they did to Al Gore, I can see it happening again if Howard Dean is nominated.
Clark seems to have a more hopeful message and he has the gravitas to make the Chimp look like the dim bulb he is. He doesn't attack, but he gets his jabs in.
I really think with Clark against Bush, Bush's got nothing. No national security club, no morality club, no miliary-loving club to beat Clark with next fall. I'd really like to see the repugs ask the question of Clark, "Why does he hate America?"
Yeah, him and all of his four stars...

Flame away.

NO CHANCE TO WIN AGAINST CLARK. NONE! It's as simple as that.

That other fellow - the former governor of the most liberal state in the Union who signed the nation's first "civil union" bill and dodged the draft so he could go skiing in Colorado and who isn't religious (neither am I, but millions of voters are) - would lead the Democratic Party to a historic and tragic defeat.

"Dean has a profile that works with the biscotti and latte sipping crowd but is a much tougher sell for the biscuit and gravy crowd. Dean is from Park Avenue, he has no national security experience, he does not understand the South and is running an angry campaign. "
- Chris Lehane in the NY Times, 12/6/03.

I think I'll vote for Wes Clark.

14. Interesting point made by Arneson yesterday
on the Cspan broadcast of her NH radio show...
How the Dems are all being lumped together as "anti-war" as if they were all on Kucinich's message, while in reality, except for Kucinich, all were not originally "anti-war" to the extent the GOP is trying to paint them.

She noted that Clark seems to have seen this game, and is the first to talk about how he's not against war when necessary...he's against THIS war (Iraq) because it wasn't necessary. She says this is an important distinction he is making and people will start listening to this. It differentiates him from the rest of the pack, the way the GOP wants to lump all the Dems.

A guy on her show said that if Clark had a better organization in NH, he would clean up. It's too bad they didn't get in there sooner....
I'm sensing the same thing here in NM....trying to pull it together in a loose way. Down here in NM Dean has an office and will visit in the next week or so. Clark's effort seems to be emails...
