My "AARP" refund check came today! I wondered if they would send it.

Good riddance to an organization I thought looked out for seniors...when in reality...the board looked out for itself.

2. Gin you did the right thing

You have to make organizations accountable for their actions. I no longer contribute to the Salvation Army or Scouts. It's not the same thing as AARP but this is something we as Americans have to do more often. Don't let politicians and groups who supposedly represent you off the hook. When they do the wrong thing you have to show them you disagree and of course make sure they know why you stopped supporting them.

Spend that refund on something more useful.

I think they do good work...but then I found out they are affiliated with the rethuglicans and what their stand on homosexuals was...I was shocked and saddened...so...they get nothing else from me.

5. May I suggest the Gray Panthers?

You could endorse the check over to them...I have heard very good things about this organization. It seems to be much more grass-roots oriented, yet still is a large national organization ith influence.

Maybe we can marginalize AARP, which is what it deserves. I think a lot of people are starting to realize that AARP never did represent their interests or priorities. They just joined almost automatically.

Good for you for getting a refund - I asked for mine at least two weeks ago - didn't actually think they would send one but your news means maybe I will!
