Where can I buy gifts that are made in the U.S.A?
Are there any online stores where I can buy gifts AND support American workers?

19. As much as I like Jim Beam...
I had to scratch Jim Beam off my shopping list, as much as I like it. Data from www.opensecrets.org :

2002 election cycle donations from Jim Beam's PAC: $4500 to Democrats, $16,000 to Republicans.

2004 cycle donations (so far): 0 to Democrats, $3000 to Republicans.

11. Free. Just send me your cred card #, your Address, your SS#
and your picture lounging around in your bathing suit
to make sure it's you. I also have nice planters that
I made out of old basbetballs that I sawed in two.
All Made in America.

16. They roll around a little in earthquakes.
I could glue a fifty pound barbell weight
inside for extra stability. I also paint
them in glow-in-the-dark colors like lime
and violet. They're quite popular among
people that I give them to. I also make
clothes out of weeds and John Grisham novels.

6. Yes, google homemade, handcrafted...
I buy a lot of homemade soaps, bath salts, candles, knit goods, toys, quilts, etc., and make holiday gift baskets for everyone. Google (and ebay) can be your friend! Here's one I like:

7. Here's a list:
For online stores which sell only 100% union-made clothing, visit:

http://www.nosweatapparel.com/
http://www.justiceclothing.com/
http://www.unionjeancompany.com/
http://www.unionthreads.com/
http://www.sweatx.net/

http://www.buyamerican.com/ is an online store with 100% American-made goods of all kinds. Not everything there is union-made, but they do show those which are with the "Union Yes" logo for your convenience.

http://www.powellsbooks.com/ is to my knowledge the only online bookstore that is unionized, organized through the ILWU.

http://www.unionwear.com/ makes custom-printed hats, shirts, and other union-made items with the logo of your choice in bulk orders. If you need bulk orders for things like your school's sports team uniforms, this is a place to consider.

http://www.aflcio.org/shop has online shopping for a surprising variety of products, including things like Christmas ornaments and cards, all union-made.

21. Hello from Germany: buy me a Fender, please...
The strat-guitar and the jazz-bass are two of the most admirable designs ever in the history of mankind. And although, they're made in China, Mexico, Japan - incredible workmanship - and elsewhere: a lot of their best stuff is still made in the USA. And do you think, anyone would buy a an outsourced Harley?
We're facing the same problems in Europe, but I think, there is no way to step back. We have to replace the globalisation of killer-capitalism with the globalisation of democrazy.
Let's outsource Bush, the WTO, the IMF and the worldbank to hell...
Gimmie democrazy from China, flowers from Mexico, nice people from Kuala Lumpur anytime under my christmas tree from I-don't-care-where it's made...
Dirk

24. Restaurant Gift Cards
At least you're supporting the restaurant employees in your community. Most of the chains have websites if you want to order gift cards online.
