Clip now available to counter The Nation's Taibbi hit on Clark
Edited on Sat Dec-06-03 07:46 PM by Kahuna
I have finally figured out how to download my camcorder images to my pc. There have been many threads dedicated to a very onerous article in, The Nation and a remark supposedly made by General Clark regarding, being a "product" of the MIC."

Finally, boys and girls you can view the statement for yourselves. Feel free to copy and use the file but please do not link to it on my server space. The format is Windows Media Viewer. Have fun!

Link to so-called MIC comment per Matt Taibbi

1. Excellent work, Kahuna!
Nothing like that to counter the 'fair and balanced' reporting of people like Taibbi.

3. Hope you sent it to them....
Did you email it to them? So those assholes can see how their lies just catches up with them. You should send it the American prospect along with a link to the Taibbi article. Tell him how Taibbi lies, and lies.......

They all like to lie about Clark...must be jealousy.

But the one that makes me the maddest is when Dean lies about Clark....I think that I am going to write some letters showing make my case on how Dean lies each time he gives his "foreign policy" speech...when says that General Clark instructed Swett to support the resolution. When Dean supported the Lugar resolution! I really don't like liars! That's why I don't like Bush.

8. Just did it. Have to send it to Commondreams too.

They also published that screed.

I would suggest that you ALL send the video clip to them. I let them know that I was distributing the clip on the web to discredit both Taibbi and their publications. Let them know that you have seen the clip!

22. Never mind Biden-Lugar
Dean is on record as saying give the inspections 30 to 60 more days and then go in.

Clark is on and off record saying this would take resources from the war on terrorism and not to do it. Clark was looking at the situation from a military perspective and knew that Afghanistan needed the attention.

He has also advised that the resolution not be a litmus test, because of the complex nature of the vote. Bush is the person who decided to go to war.

That Dean continues to shade the truth is really turning me against him. Sorry Dean supporters, but I really don't like liars or people who are not accountable for their own actions and words. Personally, I am sick to death of spinning politicans who will say anything for personal gain.

piece and putting them in people's HOME mailboxes in NH.

That's disgusting. Another form of pushpolling, since they are targeting Clark supporters in NH.

Who could pull crap that low?

16. Re: nasty opponents
That is really incredible. It always amazes me how many people in this country fail to understand democracy. I would think that this is being done by republicans, we all know how they feel about the democratic process.

11. Please send The Nation a
nice little email about your outrage over that piece of garbage they printed. I cancelled my subscription, wrote a letter to Katrina and told them they also lost 5 subscriptions I was going to give as Christmas gifts. They need to know you're mad. Here's a link.

12. Let them know you've seen my video. They must learn..
that they can not lie so easily. Just like the police are learning, there could always be a citizen with a camcorder. But in this kind of instance, they KNOW that there are lots of camcorders on. We have to expose them for the liars they are.

Edited on Sat Dec-06-03 11:08 PM by Kahuna
from Judith Long of The Nation:

"Note a correction in the current issue."

I wrote back and asked her if she could let me know where I could find the correction.

on the bottom.<sarcasm> That's where corrections are often posted, where they are not likely to be seen. They did their damage and a "correction" is an after thought.

23. I'm sure it will be on the front cover.
Right? And I'm sure that creepy Tiabbi will recant. Oh sure!

The Nation has slid down the last slope and now feeds with the rest of the tabloids off the bottom.

I was in their forum once and someone called me a murderer because I voted for Gore who supported the death penalty. WTF! I am absolutely against the death penalty and have developed a fine riff that I've used many times. Now let me see <tapping chin> the choice was bush or Gore.

28. About the Alpert Misattribution?
There is a correction about the Alpert misattribution on the website now.

I have a dialup connection, so I don't know if you are disputing that Clark said he was a product of the military-industrial complex. If so, I suspect that correction will appear in the Dec 29 (next week's) issue in the In Fact column.

I am a long-time Nation reader, and even though Taibbi bashed my guy, I'm keeping my subscription. Katha Pollitt alone makes it worthwhile.

30. Tiabbi on the cover
Portraying a hit piece full of distortions as one little glitch is not enough. Until Tiabbi is on the cover with green spew flowing freely from his contorted mouth, the Nation can not be forgiven. And BTW, this is not the first piece of crap they have published by this unabashed creep, and it is not the first agenda driven article that the Nation has published dressed up as serious reporting.

It is time to call the Nation what it is: a once proud voice of the left that has sunken to the depths of the Tabloid Nation. For Tiabbi and the Nation it is "all about them and selling zines" rather than their once dedication to seeking and printing the truth.

25. Let me tell ya...
... that issue with the Clark hit piece was my fourth issue in a four-issue trial of the Nation. I usually read it at a friend's house but had decided to get it at home. I was so infuriated after reading one shit-encrusted piece of that toilet paper -- ahem, "article" -- I immediately mailed my invoice back with CANCEL all over it and a few curt sentences explaining why. And I'm still pissed even thinking about it. (Yes, I have no life, but that's another topic ;) )

Here's my take on that (s)hit piece BTW:
1) Clark has a military background and is honest about it
2) Clark supporters want Clark to win the 2004 election
3) Therefore the Clark, the campaign and his supporters suck.

I expect 150% more from the Nation and am glad I didn't shell out a cent for that issue. AAAAGH I need a cigarette
