Democrats have never had such an abundant choice...

Do they pick a General that will counter the for-sure war campaign of George W Bush? Or do they pick a straight-forward and popular candidate like Howard Dean? Or do they pick a true liberal and peace candidate like Dennis Kucinich? Or do they pick an experienced pol like John F Kerry? Or do they pick a labor and working man candidate like Gephardt or Edwards? Or do they pick their first woman in Carol Moseley Braun? Or do they pick their first black candidate in Al Sharpton? Or do they pick a moderate Democrat like Joe Lieberman?

Each of these candidates has a special quality that is appealing to some Democratic voters. The decision to be made is to choose one that can beat George W Bush. Who can counter the perceived strengths of George Bush or who can bring enough new blood into our Party to permit us to win next November? These are not easy decisions.

Democratic voters, and not us, will choose the candidate in the upcoming primaries. We have no choice but to trust the judgement of the people. If they choose Howard Dean, then we must unite to make sure he gives the best fight possible to the Repubs. The same goes for Wes Clark or John Kerry. If either of them is chosen by the Democratic voters to be the nominee, then we must be willing to put our differences aside and work for that candidate. Will we be able to do that?

No one will get the nomination by default, they will have to fight for it, which will put them in fighting form to take on Bush.

3. I can't remember being excited about one candidate much less two

Now I have Dean and Clark. It really doesn't matter to me which one it is.

4. I think that when the day comes, Kentuck,

the voters will come together as one unified whole and pick their man. Because the alternative is so horrifying that none of us want to think about...

So it's a good thing that there's lots of squabbling about the candidates and their different points of view. Everything will be laid out in the open. Voters will have had months to "shop around".

But by next November, we will have someone in mind.

5. All of Them Are So Good

and almost any of them is light years better than Shrub. It always comes back to, just about ANY Dem candidate is better than any wingnut in ALL ways----intelligence, public spiritedness, decency.
