BBV: Diebold offers free VV printer upgrades in San Diego County
I just received this, and I'm not sure anyone had posted it previously.

The article refers to San Diego, and it's not great (implementation not to be done until 2006 deadline), but it seems like progress:

<<<Diebold has agreed to modify the county's machines for free by the 2006 deadline so voters can review a printout of their ballots before casting them.>>>

Has anyone seen anything else about this?

2. We need a San Diego Duer to check on this
We need to know what kind of printer. Will it print a paper ballot that can be verified by the voter and used as the official ballot for audits and recounts. What is the negotiated total price for the entire DRE?
More info, please......we can all use this in states that insist on buying Diebold......Nevada for instance.....

3. Can Diebold do this....
...without making another uncertified change? Of all the companies, I though Diebold would have the hardest time adding a printer, because the platform isn't up to it.

But, hey, the wall's starting to crumble, isn't it?

Thanks for all the hard work over at Verifiedvoting Greg!
