In Sept. 2001, Bush had 90% approval. The Trifecta paid off. Only the ten-percenters like most of us at DU disapproved.
In May 2002, Bush was down to 70%. We knew that BUSH KNEW. The economy was in shambles. The Democratic 30% base had come home. In Sept 2002, Bush was at 60%. Most Dems (90%) were back in the fold, as Bush WMD lies were leading us into war. Some Independents started to defect as well.
In July 2003, Bush was at 55%. The Iraq fiasco, cronyism and WMD lies exposed Bush. Now the Dems were fully united, as more Independents abandoned Bush.
In Nov. 2003, Bush was at 50%. His reelect was down to 42%. A majority of Independents and some moderate Republicans, including military and VFW, had given up on Bush.
By April 2004, Bush was at 45%. At least 65 % of Independents and 15% of the Republicans were Democratic supporters. There were rumblings from Republicans who feared a Democratic landslide in the making.
By Oct 2004, Bush was at 40%. The Dems attracted 70% of the Independents. Only his extreme right-wing fundie base supported Bush. And even they were going soft.
In Nov. 2004, it was official. Our long national nightmare was finally over.
BUSH WAS TOAST. EVEN DIEBOLD COULD NOT HELP HIM. NOR COULD ANOTHER TRIFECTA.
