I just got a very strange pop-up ad after logging on DU.

No other windows were open and no other sites had been visited this morning. I got a pop-up with a big picture of Bu$h's face and the message: President Bush supports medical liability reform. Should't you?.

The pop-up then auto-linked to a contact-your-congresscritter page with a letter supporting the Bu$h position on medical tort reform.

WTF? Could this be a hack job, or just some latent cookie causing the pop-up to appear at random? Ironically, I had "Pop-Up Stopper" turned on.

I use Spybot on my main computer in North Carolina and my laptop. Maybe I should install Spybot on this computer.

We get a modest income from pop-ups on our homepage. It's all run-of-network, un-targeted crap. We don't get advertisers ourselves, we just have a little code we put into our page that we get from an ad broker. We don't pre-screen them.

I'll go shut off that ad.
