2. If the media will shill for * in the General Election

then does it really matter who our nominee is?

For the primary, I'm trying to ignore the media spin & go right to the source material - speeches, platform. BUT I am paying attention to how the candidates respond to attacks.

As for Dean, there are just as many hit pieces as fluff pieces - kinda cancels itself out. He's just getting more press period b/c he's the front runner & has a "hook".

I've done my share of them too, but the only poll on DU I really trust is when the site itself conducts the poll and it is locked in at the top of the page for 48 hours or so and you get a better reading of sentiment as well as more respondents.

The almost daily polls on candidate sentiment I've stopped participating in because while they are fun to do every so often they become meaningless when done every day, imo--plus people look at who is conducting them and if they think it is a supporter of a certain campaign I think many people will just pass 'em up.

I think we can use our own eyes and our own minds to see that they are trying to affect the outcome of the primary. No doubt, Dean is a very popular candidate. However, not one vote has been cast yet. No one knows who will come out of the primary process. But to listen to the media, it is a given that Dean is the choice.

There is also a self-interest indicator. To compare Saddam with the candidates and the upcoming election is comparing apples and oranges.
Does the poster think your "total subjectivity" is an indicator of total objectivity by the media? If not, it is all opinion.
