as well as in, to a lesser degree, the about half of southern states that aren't solidly safe for Bush.
Gore may not have won TN, AR, LA, NC, or officially FL, but he did make Bush atleast work and spend like crazy in those places, which with another nominee, say, one from a liberal new england state, he wouldn't have had to.
This allowed Gore to win the upper midwest much easier.
The best ticket for us to win is Clark-Graham, by a wide wide margin
All the candidates can be involved as well. Dean can organize his die-hards in NH and IO. Gephardt and Kucinich can help in Midwestern metros to varryingly liberal and moderate audiences. Kerry and his wife can help out in NH, AZ, and PA, particularly with vets. Edwards can help organize trial lawyers, as well as campaign for Clark in NC, VA, WV, TN, and elsewhere. Braun in Chicago, Lieberman in south Florida.
