15. No, maybe not, but this time, the tag team was not forewarned
so Dean is naturally ahead in THIS poll.

This endorsement will make a HUGE difference nationally.

Gore was smart to beat the Clintons to their endorsement of Clark, which will now look nastier and will underscore why Dean is a Gore Democrat, a non-DLC democrat, while Clark and Kerry are the DLC choices.

I HOPE that smart folks will coalesce behind the torchbearer now. Actually I know that smart folks will.

The OLD Democratic order of the wall street elites is falling.

31. Because he belongs there!

Dennis Kucinich is a top of the line Democrat and is recognized as such by the many who say "Kucinich is the one I really prefer but I'm voting for ______ because he's more 'electable.' I'd vote for Kucinich if he was doing better in the polls."

Without a single vote having been cast, we're being told one candidate has the nomination locked up, and that's crazy. Playing by those rules, we may as well concede the election to Bush* right now. It's all madness.

16. Other candidates should be there
There are some people here that support Edwards and Kerry so I don't see why they wouldn't be in the poll. There is no reason to just have 3 candidates.

I think fewer people will vote for "none of the above" than the total would be for Edwards and Kerry if they were in the poll.

17. Hey mods, can I do this?
I mean post the same reply to lots of different threads? I don't want to break any rules around here, but I do think this answer fits a lot of topics.

Lemme know, okay?

Anyway, here it is:

In regard to Gore's endorsement of Dean in the primaries? What difference does it make beyond that? It doesn't change Dean or his perception among the voters, though it may lead more of the party pros to jump on board. That should satisfy those who really thought Dean represented something new and innovative in politics. Same old, same old.

Or as the Who used to sing, "here comes the new boss, same as the old boss"

Us ABB folks in the Clark camp support the candidate we feel has the best possible chance to eke out a win over an incumbent president in a time of war. The Gore endorsement of Dean does nothing to change that.

I am surprised that Gore didn't endorse the man he chose for his own running mate, but that's politics, I guess. Nothing succeeds like success. Same old, same old.

I would suggest to our Deaniac friends that a man who managed to lose his own state to an illiterate clown from Texas with no credentials at all, is hardly the political guru of the ages.

I like Al Gore but if he had run a decent campaign in 2000 the Supreme Court's role would have been limited to swearing him in. Instead he frittered away state after state, and what happened happened.

Now he's back. Good luck, Howie!

Thanks Al Gore: Now those who do not like you will step forward please and show yourselves here.

When I first arrived here it was the hate slung at Al Gore which bothered me most -- and it usually came from the Kerry supporters. Now the Clark gogos have jumped into the midst of DU.

Pity that our actual President has so little support on this board.

to drive off people that really like Dean, but choose to support other candidates until the primaries. Thank God the vast majority of Dean supporters respect other people and their rights to have differing views. Responses such as the above only serve to drive off people like me who really like both men but don't like being called nasty names because we don't share your first choice.

Respect for the views of other-its a simple thing to ask but obviously too much for some to give..

BTW, I still wish Gore had run this time so don't tell me about Clark supporters disrespecting Gore. Generalizations like this are the product of singleminded hatred and its ugly..

32. I am a student of history: Politics is ugly and dangerous. Ask JFK or Well
stone.

Oh, you can't. They were MURDERED!

RFK too.

The political power globally is in the hands of people who murder for political expediency.

Study blackops and disinformation. Study COINTELPRO. Murder of political opponents was the standard operating procedure.

Infiltrating and saboteurs and provocateurs are the standard operating procedure.

If ANYONE believes that such political black operations are NOT part of history - and hence something we should be watching and prepared for, just hasn't studied enough histopry or hasn't been taught right.

NONE of us expected Wellstone to get killed when he did and that it would make such a difference in the world.

Same with JFK. Bobby almost seemed inevitable given what he was up against. Happens to be the same entities we are up against now.

THAT is why I BELIEVE Clark may be the trojan horse to keep the BFEE in power (in the shadows where they prefer to be). I feel the same way about kerry due to his longstanding association with what I consider to be a fascist criminal political operation on the order of the BLACK HAND (which is another organ of their power maintenance).

Nothing paranoid or delusional or even unreasonable about my BELIEFS.

Could there be a Manchurian Candidate? Could there be TWO?

I think it is way more likley than not. The odds are in my favor on this, I am afraid.

I don't care who agrees with me.

If you were to wake up to the news of a crash tomorrow in which the frontrunner was killed, (or imagine it was YOUR favorite candidate)then you would know what I fear most: that our present government is so corrupt that they would kill anyone who threatens their power and hegemony and they would use ANY means to stay in power or at l;east out of prison or out of the dock.

To be kind, your views are farfetched and better suited to the pages of the tabloids. You do harm to the candidate you claim to support by your unproven sensationalistic charges and drive away potential supporters. However, thats your right-I'm just glad you're on someone else's side.

30. Gore isn't the president - he CONCEDED
If he hadn't have conceded, he'd be the rightful president. He gave up, so he isn't.

I'm a proud long time Gore basher - it's no surprise that the Number One Pimp for NAFTA - Al Gore - has endorsed the Number One Governor Pimp of NAFTA, Howard Dean.

Still, I think this, along with Dean's frontrunner status and superior organization, just won him the nod.

I know of at least 2 DUer's' with multiple accounts who have admitted to voting more than once for their candidate on these very polls.

False comfort, but hey - whatever gets you through the night.

Edited on Mon Dec-08-03 09:03 PM by Tinoire
http://www.cnn.com/ELECTION/2004/special/president/quickvote/frameset.exclude.1.html

If you don't want to bother voting and prefer to go straight to the results of this pathethically freeped poll

http://www.cnn.com/POLLSERVER/results/6110.html

I document these cases as I find them as well as the stories about free training to 'over-take' internet discussion boards & push candidate propaganda. The whole thing is sickening and makes you wonder why people would stoop to such tactics for such a critical election. Do they really think it's going to get them anywhere? That if they can force people to believe a smoke and mirroir illusion, that people will support candidate Y over candidate X?

Too often I feel like I'm at a foot-ball game.

40. 100% Clark!
It is kind of funny to watch the Deanies whine about EVERY poll at DU showing Clark as the winner. Keep in mind that DU is home to a relatively small group of hard core dems. Hmmmm.....kind of interesting that the supposed Repug Clark has tremendous support here. Clark is truly a uniter and appeals to a great cross section of society. Gore's tactical error will make Wes that much more determined to win the nomination and deliver us from the Shrub. You'll see.

42. Still an Edwards man
Though for the purposes of this poll I voted for Kucinich as I have an immense amount of respect for him, and would definitely favor him over Dean or Clark in a three-way race.

Al Gore is the man. He is my President. In fact, one of the reasons I signed up to post on DU after months of lurking was out of irritation towards a handful of posters who constantly bashed him on here. (No hard feelings at all, Walt Starr. :-) )

I have an immense amount of respect towards Al Gore, and the supporters of Howard Dean are certainly justified in feeling a great amount of joy towards this very credible, important endorsement.

In my mind, however, this endorsement matters very little. In choosing my candidate I want a candidate who I feel offers a true contrast to the policies of Shrub and can also mount stiff competition to the Simian-in-Chief. This is why I support John Edwards for the Democratic nomination.

I feel that I can respect and admire Al Gore as a public figure while still acknowledging opposition to missteps and mistakes that I feel he has made. I believe he made some major mistakes in the 2000 campaign, but think he ran a better campaign than he is generally given credit for. I chose to respect his decision not to pursue further legal action over the 2000 election after the Supreme Court decision; he is still the legitimately-elected President of the United States in my view. I think he made a major mistake in choosing not to run in 2004 as I feel he would have run a truly energizing campaign against the * regime. However, I chose to respect his decision. I feel he has made a mistake in endorsing Howard Dean for President. Once again, I choose to respect his decision, though it changes my view of Dean little if at all.
