Sharpton declares Lieberman's campaign DOA
Mr. Gore's decision, while a boost to Dr. Dean, was a devastating blow to Senator Joseph I. Lieberman of Connecticut, who was Mr. Gore's running mate in 2000. "It probably wipes Lieberman out of the race," said the Rev. Al Sharpton, one of the Democratic candidates. "It's going to clear the deck."

Aides to Mr. Lieberman did not respond immediately for comment.

what makes this especially funny is the fact that one of Lieberman's senior strategists declared Kerry's campaign DOA a few days ago.

However, a senior strategist for rival Joe Lieberman doubted Kerry will be able to turn around his campaign. Mandy Grunwald and two other Lieberman officials told reporters in a conference call on Friday that the Connecticut senator was holding his support in states with primaries after Iowa and New Hampshire even as Kerry and others appeared to be losing ground.

"I don't believe in writing people's obituaries, but I don't see any signs that he's going anywhere,'' Grunwald said of Kerry. "He's been on a steady downward trajectory. I don't see any signs that it's going to be reversed.''

2. is it just me, or does Sharpton provide the narration
to this campaign season.

You know, sort of like the character in Shakespeare who doubles as the "narrator."

4. That's an excellent way of putting it!
For example, I liked the way he welcomed Clark at the first debate Clark participated in.

Sharpton is the narrator, and DU is the Chorus... except we're all saying different things at the same time ;)

7. Great analysis!
If Gore's endorsement doesn't help Joe see the light (and that MUST hurt!), then Sharpton must be targeting Joe with flashlights. Hello! Anyone home?! Time to leave please!!

3. This assumes Lieberman's campaign was alive before the endorsement
In fact it's been dead since inception.

11. Once Lieberman supported counting votes cast AFTER the election
Once Lieberman supported counting votes cast AFTER the 2000 election by soldiers who never lived in Florida in the Florida recount, he should have decided never to run for national office.

12. Holy Joe may drop out in two-three weeks!!
From a high placed "friend" (can't tell you the name, don't bother trying) back in Conn. (yes, I used to live there.) Says that this is a big deal to the Lieberman camp and a serious money crunch at the same time could mean Liberman to drop out before the first Primaries! HUGE! Take this with a big grain of salt, I do, but...I strongly believe that my "friend" is probably right or very close.

Personally, I think he'll drop out after he loses NH, IA (not even trying there) just to save some face. You know, "well, I lost so bad might as well not try at all..."
