Did Gore curse Dean?
Edited on Mon Dec-08-03 08:22 PM by quinnox
I am seeing some people say Gore's endorsement is the "kiss of death" for Dean.

I'm not sure what this means, but I am wanting to know.

Is it because Gore seemed almost cursed that he couldn't win the 2000 election, and is passing on his bad luck to Dean?

10. I guess these crybabies
don't realize that Gore knows that Dean is the only one who truely has been on a mission to evict *bush.

20. You are putting words in my mouth, I resent that
I don't have a stand one way or another on Gore's endorsement. I do have a stand on name-calling Dean supporters though. :puke:

24. I resent moralists.
Especially hypocritical ones. As the good doctor himself says, "I don't want to listen to the fundamentalist preachers anymore!" And that's what all of this is becoming - nothing but a cacaphony of Pat Robertsons yelling "SHAME!" while internally weeping and asking why Gore couldn't have endorsed THEIR candidate.

Later.

26. OK, I just have no idea where you're coming from
Why wouldn't supporters of other candidates be disappointed that Gore didn't choose theirs, assuming they value Gore's opinions (which not everyone does)? Seems reasonable to me.

On an unrelated note: I don't want to listen to "good doctors" any more than I want to listen to fundamentalist preachers. I'll listen to Dean, but the whole "good doctor" thing turns me off. Oh no, I've expressed an opinion :spank:

27. one reason being that they see those of Carter & Clinton
which carry a lot more weight.

For him to come out at this time is specificly intended to aid one candidate but I'm still debating which one that is.

Time will tell...

7. Not in the least
The winner of the popular vote in 2000 still has alot of support within the Democratic party especially among activist democrats who are still angry about the presidency being stolen and among African-Americans--Gore is almost as popular among them as Clinton was--turnout actually was higher for Gore in '00 in African-American communities than for Clinton in '96. No, this is not the kiss of death for Dean--it is very helpful.

I wonder who you have been talking to?

12. No, he might have won Dean the nomination
Gore's endorsement could very well seal up Dean's nomination, which Dean would have likely won anyway.

If Edwards drops out and endorses Clark, or vice versa, or something else, it could be interesting. Right now it looks like ... Dean/Gore?

17. No, sorry, but no.
It could perhaps be the 'Kiss of Death' to some candidate. But Dean was doing just fine before and will probably just do better now.

But then who could tell if it has any effect, Dean was probably going to be doing better next week anyway.

22. Well, well, well
Anyone noticing the latest infantile tactic echoing throughout the Clark true believers ranks? Gore endorsement is the "kiss of death" for Dean, or the death knell for his campaign. This is the exact behavior among Clark supporters--immature, ignorant, thug-like, sullen that characterizes their mob behavior. With the exception of one, Tom Rinaldo, you do your candidate a disservice. These suggestions are little more than fueling the flame and something maybe Rove would have responded with.

Who needs fucking Republicans with Democrats such as these. Fucking pathetic.

25. Thank you for you sweeping, disgusting, and unfair comments
I harbor no ill will toward Gore for his endorsement and I'm sure many Clark supporters feel the same.

Your uncalled for viciousness is what's truly pathetic.

28. They should be happy that Clark won't get the nomination.
After all we wouldn't want him to be tarnished by our loser Democratic image. Maybe Clark should have challenged Bush in a GOP primary.
