Why are Dean and Gore going to Iowa tomorrow
for what amounts to just a few hours? Any theories?

9. now wouldn't that be a double whammy?
having Gore and Harkin endorsing Dean on the same day.

4. To boost Dean in Iowa. Why else?
Dean HAS to win Iowa. It's the trigger to the Dean Domino Effect. Having Gore backing him does nothing but help him in Iowa. No-brainer.

6. I'm wondering about this, too

I can't help but wonder if something even bigger isn't planned for Iowa tomorrow and if the Gore endorsement wasn't "leaked" for a reason.

I mean, if Gore's here endorsing in NYC, then why fly to Iowa together for what the Dean campaign is calling a "major announcement."

Perhaps Harkin is endorsing? If so, it's OVER for Gephardt. Nail coffin shut, he's done.

Something smells awfully fishy. But the good kind of fishy! HEHE

8. Yep.
Just Gore endorsing Dean inside of Iowa pretty much shuts down everyone else, but a Harkin endorsement of Dean...Gephardt is done...they all are done.

10. and Dean HQ's been very quiet about it on the Dean blog......
so it might be a really big announcement they're making in IA tomorrow.

7. because Gore still has a lot of support in Iowa
especially among Democratic caucus voters who rightly believe that he had the presidency stolen from him.

11. yep…
In Iowa, which holds its first-in-the-nation caucuses on Jan. 19, Democratic strategist Jeff Link, who is not affiliated with any of the presidential contenders, said a Gore endorsement “is a big deal. Gore was and continues to be very popular in Iowa. Democrats worked hard for him,” Link said, both in the 2000 caucuses in which he beat Bill Bradley and in the November election, in which he carried the state by a slim margin.

If Gore campaigns for Dean in Iowa and picks up the phone to make the Dean pitch to key Iowa Democrats, Link said, it would boost Dean in the state, where he is running neck and neck with Rep. Dick Gephardt.\

22. what time and where
are they arriving ? The eastern part of the state won't be too bad until tomorrow afternoon or maybe night ( depends on temperature - rain changing to snow ) Western Iowa is already getting some rain/snow mix. Northern portions of the state already have about 6 inches on the ground from a couple of days ago so that part of the state will be colder.
