Broken Hearted, Listening to SOUSA
Did you know he composed "Franklin D. ROOSEVELT" march?

Al GORE, I love you, but you shouldn't endorse before we can choose in a primary. It's not the first thing I've disagreed with you about. There's that Joe LIEBERMAN thing. But I love you.

3. I should hope...
...you don't use your precious vote as bartering or something suitable for trade in the 2004 election to get Bush out of the White House. Classy, though.

Later.

4. I am fed up with you Dean people.
Did you ever learn about good sportsmanship (like in elementary school), or are you all just schmucks?

deanie post. Jab and run. Alert and whine.
you guys 'really kill' me. You don't own this board, but stomp on posters and their candidates threads regularly and don't understand why those of us who don't support your candidate don't want to even attempt to get a bit more inside on what he may be saying. Too many children slinging poop in the crowd. Why should i want to learn more about the person you support?
grow up.

kill me, go ahead.

like you and me. I endorse kucinich with my heart and Clark to win.... Gore has a serious track record of bad picks in these election thingies.... i think y'all are reading the tea leaves upside down.

14. yes...
1. lieberman
2. only counting 2 counties instead of all of florida (distrusting democracy)
3. not asking clinton to endorse and campaign for him in 2000
4. dropping out when he could have won in 04
5. using his voice to drown out democracy yet again NOW with dean

I'd say that's a track record... and a rather sad one.

11. Sorry
Gore used his clout to step on this election. He could have run, we would have supported him, but he decides to stab people in the back instead. He is not just another endorsement and he knows it. So before a vote is cast he just decides the winner? The Clintons are also human beings and they had enough honor to stay out of it.

So....why should we have a primary at all? The election has just been decided.

12. He probably wouldn't have done this
If the other candidates and party leadership weren't ganging up on our strongest and most popular candidate with the people. Dean has worked very hard, tirelessly and endlessly to come as far as he has. He's earned it and proven himself time and time again. He's proven every claim about him wrong. He's got staying power and the others have been to self absorbed and selfish and are trying to destroy Dean. It wouldn't have worked anyhow, but the fact that the others are trying to pig-pile on Dean is VERY disturbing. Gore also needed to make it clear to those trying to draft him that he doesn't want to run so they will get behind someone else and get involved for someone who is running.

I do understand that you are upset that he's "taking sides", but if so many others weren't pig piling on Dean I seriously doubt Gore would have stepped in at this point. Perhaps you should at least try to look at it that way.

13. Huggies, honey. I don't think I'm going to be fair, look at it some way
other than what I feel or 'get over it' for a while.
I think I'll go listen to Sousa too.

A friend of mine had a grandpa who was in Sousa's band.
She got all his stuff. Awesome little link to the past.

Hugs, Honey.

15. I Downloaded SOUSA & It Was Weird
I loved it, but we want top-o-tha-line, right? And it was MISTER SOUSA, saying, "Now we're going to play 'National Fencibles march.'" And it was this high pitched squeaky voice, and this less-sound recourding. So beautifully weird. I deleted it immediately. Am going to listen to modern versions now. Love'ya. Bye.

18. I'm not telling anyone to "get over it", that would be heartless
Basically I'm saying that some might take it a little better if they at least try to understand it. Understanding why doesn't mean you have to agree with or like something, ya know?

Some folks are going to be grieving and I hope that ALL Dean supporters will be respectful and considerate of that. It's not time to argue or fight or insult one another. It's time to be supportive of each other and unite as an unstoppable force against Bush and Company. I actually have to say that I admire Gore for recognizing that someone had to step in and change the tone of things. I think he is going to be the one to thank for snapping everyone out of all the nasty behavior and at least getting on the same page. I wish it didn't hurt the feelings of anyone in the process, though.

Try to keep your chin up and trust that he's doing what he is for a reason and even if you don't undestand it now, eventually you will. Hang in there.

28. say what?
My grandfather (who lived in a small town in Saskatchewan) sat in with the Sousa band when it came through in concert. He played the trombone, and started boys' bands in little prairie towns. We believe he was the inspiration for Meredith Willson's "Music Man." Willson played with Sousa on tour. However, my grandfather didn't marry a librarian nor con people of River City.

My sister lost my grandfather's silver trombone. Argh. He was a carpenter by trade, and built the bandstand in the little town of Ceylon.

my hometown was the inspiration for "The Music Man." It was Wilson's hometown. I hate the Music Man, as a side note. I had to play "76 Trombones" a few too many times in high school band.

20. I'm not saying the others don't have supporters
At the same time, people would have to be really blind to not notice that Dean has the most support. He's broken damn near every record from crowds to fundraising to grassroots volunteers. Some of the other candidates and the party leadership have been trying to do to Dean what Bush did to Gore, and Gore stepped in to do his part to make sure it didn't happen again. I think he's trying to protect the primary elections.

election. I am that mad at him. I lately decided to support Clark, but I've been happy to hear Kerry start kicking butt and Kucinich speaking from the heart. The more voices against Bush the better.

Six weeks before the big Feb.3 primaries (and 2 of them getting busy with Christmas when attention is low), Gore pipes up. Please. An unecessary thing to do; he could have waited till after Feb. 3.

We still haven't resolved the sealed records, the draft thing is still floating around...I want to have Dean tested as the primary season kicks off, not have Gore stick his nose in it before it even starts!!

23. I could give a fuck what Al Gore thinks
Seriously. I love Al and all, but he isn't God, and his endorsement shouldn't be considered some kind of death knell for the other seven Democrats running. His endorsement doesn't mean anything to me other than he likes candidate Dean. Gary Hart likes Kerry. Gephardt has some union support. Somebody's bound to like Lieberman. See? Personal preference.

Kids, if you believe in your candidate, then by God have some FAITH in that candidate. You don't have to like someone just because someone else likes them. Stick to your guns.

... once in a while, when Smirky W. McFlightsuit is doing a photo-op on CNN, I'll put on Sousa's "Liberty Bell March" (better known these days as the opening and closing theme music to the BBC comedy series "Monty Python's Flying Circus").
