Can we please remember to say "President Gore endorses Howard Dean?"
Or at least, "President-elect Gore?" It distresses me that so many seem to have forgotten 2000.

1. Good point.
Although I say "Vice-President Gore", since in my world, Clinton is still President and Bush is nothing more than a four-year bad dream... :D

4. Gore isnt the president
He never was the president. He may have had more votes that Bush, but his own political stupidity cost him the recount in Florida by lobbying for only special counties to be recounted, not to mention the moral case of his cause.

13. exactly
Gore is not the president. If you think he is, you're in some very strange form of denial.

17. Who is?
Is the definition of the American president the person elected president by the people or the person who shows up in the oval office and exercises power no matter how he got there

21. it's the person who takes the oath.
doesn't matter how he got there once he's standing there taking the oath.

Was Lyndon Johnson elected? No, but he took the oath.

Like it or not, Shrub took the oath. He's in. Complain all you want, in case you haven't noticed, Bush is the president.

Yeah, pisses me off, too.

5. I like Gore, but....
if he does endorse a candidate this early, he is not being very presidential. I will always like him, but he lost some of my respect today. :grr:

But it seems like Gore has.

Let the voters choose the candidate, ok, Mr. Gore?

The only one I call President is Clinton, 'cause he was.

18. I always say "President-elected."
Unique in American history, Gore was elected but was not inaugerated, was not seated, and did not serve. This is, I believe, how future historians will view it.

It's sad to think how we will never know what we missed, but then again there's always 2012! Gore may still be young enough. How old is he?

22. Gore is damaged goods at this point
He managed to lose the battle to the most miserable failure of a president ever.

How's that gonna look in retrospect?

If you lose, you want to lose to somebody good. Gore conceded to a loser.

24. Gore showed his true calling
by being a two term VICE-PRESIDENT nothing more, the man folded like a cheap suit and shit on everyone that the election meant something to.

As for endorsing dean, Gore came out from under his rock long enough to give the deanies some added hope, it may help with the undecideds but it's going to give swing voters pause, they may like dean but the ones that feel as I do about Gore are going to veiw Gore's endorsement as a bad oman, not much to crow about being endorsed by an incumbent vice-president of the best 8 years this country ever had that couldn't beat a Texas slug.

At least dean did something while governor, (nothing to write home about....but something) in 8 years all Gore did was try to distance himself and hide under the rug when the shit hit the fan, he was a spineless wannabe then and is a spineless wannabe now looking for another potential winner to suck the life out of.

So please don't ask for what isn't deserved, right now dean is more Presidential than Gore ever was and dean's not achived that title yet and with Gore's endorsement, there's an even chance he never will.

As they say, it ain't over till the fat lady sings.

I can see the ads now "Howard dean wants to be your next President....and "THIS" man thinks he should" What a Kodak moment.

“good night paul, wherever you are”

So I read this book

27. Agreed, Gore is NOT President.
I was just trying to have a bit of fun. Though, I am a Dean supporter, I think this announcement will only have an effect on a few undecideds. I may be wrong. However, it is far from over. If a coalition "stop-Dean" could form by a few dropping out, we'd still have a two person race.
