Newt Goes Nuke-yoo-lar On GWB
See buzzflash for the link...

I am really loving that so many conservatives...the thinking ones as well as idiots like Newt, are starting to speak out against Bush.

Do you think there's any chance that somebody will come up, a 3rd party person, a Libertiarin or something, that will skim off a chunk of the GOP vote?? I do know a lot of lifelong GOP voters, like my parents' neighbors, who have said they might not vote at all but they ain't voting for Bush.

3. Well, the Constitution Party is courting him!
Let's all bow our heads in prayer to lobby God to make it so.

Amen.

4. Right-wing spoilers
The Libertarian Party nominee is probably going to be Gary Nolan. He only joined the Libertarians a couple of years ago and is a former Repug. It's quite possible that there will be enough discontent with B*s* on the right that the Libertarian could draw 1-2% of the vote. The Nolan name is well known among Libertarians but not among the general public; however, the other possible right-wing third parties aren't in good shape:

I doubt the Constitution Party is going to be much of a factor at all. They never have been. Howard Phillips has disclaimed interest in running again. Unless they get somebody well known to run this time, they're history.

The Reform Party is all but defunct. The Buchananites left to form something called the America First Party, which is probably going to nominate a no-name and get on the ballot in 10-15 states at best. The other Reform factions all left when the party splintered over dislike of Buchanan. Perot himself endorsed B*s* last time around. If the Reform Party runs at all they will only be on the ballot in a few states with a no-name candidate.

Our job is to keep Ralph Nader from running again, so the liberal vote can be united around the Democratic nominee and we can let the Libertarians be the spoilers this time around. The L.P. got over 1% of the popular vote in 1980 and they could do even better in 2004 since it looks like there won't be three or four other right-wing third parties to split the right-wing protest vote this time around, and because there is a lot of discontent with B*s* brewing on the right.

6. When Newt says the answer is political not military..
people had better perk their ears. He may not be right, but that is a different drum he is playing.
