Are Democrats on the right track or wrong track?

Is there really too much hate in the Party? Is this a monster that has been created that has now grown out of control? Will this be the downfall of the Party?

Do we "personalize" the politics too much around George W Bush? Would it be more effective to calmly discuss his failed policies? Will this strategy bring enough people together to defeat Bush in November? Is there a better way? If you think we are on the wrong track, what would be the right track to follow?

From reading the comments about the divisions within the Party, one senses that everyone is not comfortable with the direction we are going. Comments?

3. EVERYONE is on the wrong track.

5. Illusion

Actually we are surrounded by a media that is fanning the flames. Anger against President Bush is an entirely logical response to what the man and his followers have done. For decades the Republicans have called us traitors and anti-American, and we start responding and (according to them) it's entirely motivated by hatred.

We are never going to win if we let the Republicans set the terms of the game.

But the question is are we backing up our disapproval of President Bush with the reasons we believe he is so rephrensible? The answer is yes. Check out any of the candidates websites and all the information is there.

But the corporate media finds hatred of President Bush a more compelling story, and doesn't have the time or the inclination to explore where that disdain comes from.

That's why we need to be talking to people and explaining why we dislike President Bush.

11. And whose storyline are Democrats supporting?

It seems many gullible Dems are falling right into place for the storyline that BushInc. and their media whores have set up, "The stoic, unbending commander-in-chief vs. The Angry Democrats."

7. Perhaps the Party should set aside a substantial amount of money...

for ads to counter the hate message:
"The Repubs say that we are a "hate Bush" Party. The fact of he matter is that we "hate" what he has done to this country. We hate what he plans to do in the future. These are the reactions of true patriots. They understand how slick the Repubs are at blaming people as "hateful" or revengeful as they continue to tear down our country. They are very good at diverting our attention away from the "real" issues."

And show something like the above ad enough times to counter the Repub message of "hate". One time ad buys will not work. It has to be a prolonged ad campaign, just the way the Repubs do it.

10. I hate the mainstream media!!!

They are playing up all the "feuds" between the candidates inorder to divide the vote again! Why else would they put such importance on how the other candidates "feel" about Gore's endorsement? Because all of them are owned by the same small group of people they have it in their own best interest to have us bickering. If THEY split the vote again then it is easier for Bush to steal another election and they get to buy up all the media outlets they want. It is disgusting, they don't want ANY dem to win PERIOD They loose their control if a Dem wins, why would they want that? We have to remember that ANYONE of the Democrats would make a better President than shrub. Once the Dem. nominee is chosen, we will see them make the candidate look bad at every opportunity. We will hear them give us fake poll numbers, and we will hear them say over and over again that the Dem. obviously can not win. PLEASE don't fall into their trap. This is exactly what they want.

I think that the Democrats have a chance of electing a person that will truly have the best interest of the American citizens at heart, because everyone of the Dems (except Lieberman) cares more about the average citizens of this country than *Bush ever will.

*Bush is the enemy here not the other Democrats, this is about getting rid of him, otherwise America truly is lost.

12. Can we 'calmly' discuss the destruction of America...the Bill of Rights?

- Only a zombie could watch the Bushies destroy this country and not feel anger. But that anger needs to be channeled into a constructive effort to use the 'justice system' to make them accountable for their many crimes.

- RWingers will insist that we 'hate' Bush* no matter what we say about him or his policies. But simply disagreeing with Bush's* policies is not enough. We must do what Republicans would do if a Dem were sitting in the oval office right now: hold hearings, investigate and call for impeachment.

- Republicans treat us like a punching bag because they know we won't hit back. Let's stop being punching bags and swing back with both fists and the rule of law.

I think our anger, though justified, needs to be channeled into something positive for the people out there who are not angry or simply apathetic.

What do we stand for as a party?

We can't stand Bush, yes. We disagree with his policies, yes. But what are OUR policies? It's not just enough to criticize anymore. We need to articulate what needs to be done to turn this country around. We need to articulate why we are right and why the republicans are wrong.

We need policies and a platform that makes sense and takes into account the nature of the society in which we live, to start.
