The General and the Governor--Counterpunch dissects Clark and Dean
This article by the liberal mag Counterpunch really gives you the lowdown on Clark and Dean:

http://www.counterpunch.org/sharma10152003.html.

I think if I absolutely had to, I would back Clark before Dean. At least with Clark, there is still somewhat of a chance of getting someone who is a true Democrat instead of a Republicrat, because he has yet to actually hold a political office. With Dean, his record clearly shows where he stands, although of course his rhetoric obviously contradicts his past record of governor.

Enjoy!

1. There is no comparison
General Clark led thousand of men. Doctor Dean ran Vermont, a state with the population less than Oakland, California.

3. Yes I've long thought that our presidents should only come from NY or CA
Stupid-ass Truman was from Missouri which is mid-range at best and Georgia was much smaller when Carter was there. I think Dems should get the governors of NY or CA to run for the nomination this year.

I am now done with the sarcastic part of this post.

So when you said Clark led thousands of men, does that mean that he can't represent womens' interests? If he can represent them (as I believe he would be great), then surely Dean just might be able to be a leader of a population larger than Vermont.

2. Clark is a man of the enlightenment.
He believes in what made this nation great. As opposed to Al Gore who wants to tell me what to think.

5. Great piece! Thanks for posting it

This snippet pretty much says it all:

"...Decades of unremitting right wing assaults on every sphere of American life has so jerked the political landscape to the right, that instead of clamoring for sweeping or even revolutionary changes as in days long past, the main battle-cry coming from "the left" is "Anybody But Bush."

Long before the first primary, genuinely progressive platforms of Democratic candidates such as Al Sharpton and Dennis Kucinich have been deemed unrealistic and unworthy of consideration not only by the media, as can be expected, but by liberal activists and advocacy groups who often concede privately that they prefer a Kucinich, Sharpton or Ralph Nader...."

7. Clark a TRUE Democrat? Gimme a break,
at beats Clark is a true independent. If he wanted to claim he was a true democrat, he should have made his registration before he started exploring running. As it is, he did NOT register as a Dem until after he announced he was running.

I like Clark, but that one thing makes me very suspicious. As for Dean being a Republican, that is just a baseless charge. He's not a liberal, he is a pragmatist that does not make decision based in ideaology, which considering we have suffered from 3 years of shrub making decision on ideology, I'd enjoy the change in approach.

8. ain't this the truth!
"The Democrats may save us from Bush, but with the likes of Governor Dean and General Clark leading the oppositional pack-its apparent the Democrats won't be able to save us from themselves."
