I tried this post in the lounge last week. Got lukewarm response, and I let it die off.

But with all of the flame fests in GD, I just had to start this one over again, in its rightful place - GD. Frankly, I'm tired of Dems bashing other Dems.

Enough already!!!

So let's get to the real meat. We all have one thing in common, right? We all can't stand Bush!

Let me say, I really like the Daily Democrat. Nice to see some positivity in GD. But what we can all agree on (hopefully) is that we can't stand the current WH occupant.

So...let the Bush bash begin! And have some fun, too!

In times past when presidents ate Thanksgiving dinner with the troops, they ate pre-sliced turkey from the mess hall in front of the cameras and no one thought much of it. There's the president eating Army food with the Army (or whatever branch). Sure they were photo-ops, but they weren't blatantly misleading. But Bush (and his handlers) had to dress it up for TV. Fake turkey. Invitiation only, to ensure cheering troops. The gulf between reality and what's portrayed on TV is huge. It's advertising philosophy gone amuck. And the worst thing about it is it shows a fundamental distrust of free society. If you are worried about Americans knowing the truth, maybe there is something wrong with the truth. The Bushlickers think we can't handle the truth, and they think the USA is better off if the citizens - the people this government is supposed to be by, for, and of - do not know what is going on. The idea that the citizenry would make decisions based on their own opinions, informed by a free press, is at the foundation not just of the American experiment but of the whole concept of representative democracy.

How anyone can look at him and see a paragon of virtue and morality needs their eyes checked. I see a liar, anti-intellectual fraud. I think he is stupid but he isn't dumb. He knows what side his bread is buttered on.

He has a vacant look in his eyes like he can't see past his immaturity. That people look at him and see a great leader is the saddest and scariest thing I have ever seen.

He has never made a decision. Others make it for him. This was pointed out in the 2000 election and the repubics said, 'He will surround himself with people who know what to do.' Or not to do as history has shown.

He and his foreign policy team seem to subscribe to some paranoid redneck freeper view of foreign affairs, where the US is the best country in the world and all other countries are out to get us. Even other democratic countries (most of Europe, Australia, NZ, Canada) work against us because they are jealous of our freedom and success. The United Nations is at best useless and at worst is used by our enemies to limit our power and intrude on our sovereignty. The US should do whatever it wants and not worry about what other countries, even our allies, think. Anything the US is alleged to have done wrong in the past is just historical revisionism. We are always right and always have been because we are the US (and possibly chosen by God).

It used to be politicians just talked this BS to get votes and played a more subtle game behind the scenes, and when Shrub took office I assumed he would operate the same way. Now I realize he and his advisors actually believe this crap.
