Would picking Hillary as VP nullify Clark's appeal?
I agree that Clark will have a broad appeal because of his military background and overall security concerns. But Clark has mentioned that he would consider Hillary for VP. If Clark is intending to use his military background to appeal to Republicans, having Hillary on the ticket will pretty much guarantee a loss, because there is no way that Republicans will vote for Hillary.

1. It would destroy his campaign
Not to mention validate every Freeper conspiracy theory ever thought of. It would probably doom his chances in a general election. If Clark wants to win the primary, and the general election, he should be picking someone like Barbara Lee.

2. I hate t keep repeating this
but if Clark has "broad appeal", he had best use some of it and raise some money, and win a primary or two. This of course goes for any candidate, but Clark's polling numbers in the primary states don't seem to reflect what is often stated as immutable fact in DU.

3. Clark doesn't have to appeal to Republicans...He has to grab,
moderate democratic swing voters, and at the same time build a liberal base within the democratic party. Only danger with Hillary, is that it would empower the Republicans to get out their vote and defend Bush like the end of the world was coming in November 2004.

5. What a BS question! He won't pick her as VP!
He cannot answer "No" to such loaded question - it would be offensive! Stop this crap! I feel I am at the free republic!

8. LOL!
Love your sign. And, as I posted on the other Hillary-as-VP thread, I agree with you 100 percent. People are getting their knickers in a twist over nothing.

6. She wouldn't be my first choice
or even my second.

I'm liking Edwards more and more, and, of course Graham, too. But who knows???

Edwards would certainly do well as a VP, and he'd be nicely set for his own run for the top spot in 8 years (and maybe by then he'll sprout a grey hair or two, so people will actually believe that he's over 30 years old).

I would hate that. I don't want any of these people near Clark (or Dean). There are plent of terrific peopel that could be VP. Some are in the DLC like Richardson, some are not. Hillary poisons the ticket. BTW, I would still vote for Clark.

10. Senator Clinton should run for president.
End of story.

She'd be an astounding president.

20. absolutely not.
She has about as much chance of ever winning the presidency as Ted Kennedy has had. She is universally and absolutely loathed on the right.

22. luckily, the right doesn't determine the way voters vote
Remember? It is middle America who will decide--you know the people who respect H. Clinton as a First Lady and independent, successful woman? And the people who are ready for a female President?

Bill Clinton was elected twice, despite the ongoing hatred of him on the right.

23. I don't know what you consider to be "middle America"...
"...the people who respect H. Clinton as a First Lady and independent, successful woman? And the people who are ready for a female President?"

Either you must have us confused with another country, or you don't get out much.

11. Clark doesn't have broad appeal.
He appeals to people who want a commander-in-chief, not a president.

12. I agree.
I can't understand why some Dems see his military experience as a plus. I see it as a HUGE negative. I can't imagine anyone, especially liberals and progressives supporting someone who's only experience is the military. You don't become a general by being liberal or progressive.

13. VP would not be her choice.....she would overshadow him anyway..
the VP should never be as potent as the pres....it would not work..and will not happen.

I could be wrong...I have been before.

the same reason they see Kerry as a good candidate. Chickenhawks and ideologues get people into wars quicker than people who've been there.
