We sure do need to stop this ridiculous idea. I'm glad he's making it an issue.

It's a "pander issue." Panders to the intellectually pure left as a palitive for removing firearms from the street. Panders to the right by driving otherwise law abiding union men and women who happen to own firearms and enjoy hunting into the arms of the Republicans who betray them on all the economic issues, the real issues.

They scare people with images of a defenseless nation to make themselves important. Now they need a TV station to project their fear.

I don't see why guns should be in anarchy, or why they should have less control than, say, cars.

the "less regulation than Cars" analogy doesn't hold water:

1 -do you need FBI permission to own a car?

2- is car ownership banned for people convicted of some non-driving-related crimes?

3 -are cars banned from public byways or lands?

4 - is it illegal to sell your car to your cousin in the next state without going through a federally licesed car dealer?

5- is it illegal to drive your cars to other states?

6- is there a federal law enforcement agency to police car owners?

7- are crimes more harshly punished if a car is present at the crime scene and under control of the accused during the crime?

8- can you get arrested for criminal trespass for driving your car to work?

9- has the president of the US issued an executive order to ban even the mere ownership of certain makes of cars?


There are a lot of reasonable things that could be done to enhance public safety with respect to firearms ownership, but those ideas will never get discussed in public forums as long as the "white noise" level generated by bogus rheteric such as "guns are less regulated than cars" continues to drown out other voices actually seeking to solve the criminal firearms use problem.

The NRA wants gun anarchy. I think they overlook that guns are history's most effective killing tools, and can extinguish freedom as well as preserve it. Spare me the laundry list.

but they have every right to do this. As does George Soros, Gun control inc, and any other group which wishes to do this. I like the first amendment a lot. I like it even more than gun control.
