I just had a thought.... What about a Dean/Gore ticket?

Would Gore take the VP slot if given the nod by Dean?

Would having Gore as VP help or hurt Dean?

Can Gore even be VP again?

I think a Dean/Gore ticket would work well and back up any expereince issues with Dean.

2. Why would Gore play second fiddle when he is going to be known
as a kingmaker and de facto leader of the Democratic Party, maybe taking Terry's place?

3. why take the back seat again
when he SHOULD be president? There's some injustice in that, and I think Gore has moved beyond the running mate level.

7. Because he couldn't make the driver's seat...

As he said he will not run for president again.

So should he just continue to linger or get back into the leadership position to help shape the Dean presidency?

Maybe at least from a high level cabinet position....

14. Oo! What a great idea!
If I were Dean, if he wins, these would be a few of my picks:

Gore - Secretary of the Interior (because of his solid environmental record)
Bill Clinton - Secretary of State (Yes, the Big Dog himself, because he's still respected around the world)
Elliot Spitzer - Attorney General (at least until he runs for Governor of NY in 2006)
Wesley Clark (?) - Secretary of Defense

I could think of more...

5. In my view..
it would hurt more than help. Dean should pick someone that would bring even more energy to the campaign, IMO, Gore doesn't do that and he brings election 2000 baggage with him. Gore shouldn't run as VP for the same reasons he's not running as President.

6. Dean doesn't need him
he's getting by on his own steam, and the steam of his supporters.

8. I think Gore has decided that he wants to make a difference
in the world, the country and the party. I don't think he'd want the VP slot but would probably be interested in a high level cabinet position like Sec. of State or Sec. of Defense or maybe even EPA head.

9. You're the second one to have this thought, and my response is...
WHY?! Why would Gore take the job?

How about Graham for VP? He should have been Gore's choice last time around. He's big in Florida, and has tons of experience.

13. Graham, Clark & Edwards
seem to be the obvious & best veepee choices.

Of the three, I say Graham as well.

11. That works for me.....
I lost respect for Gore when he showed he didn't have the courage to run against Bush in 2004. Now that he's decided to captain a sinking ship, he could at least re-earn my respect by being a good captain in going down with the vessel.

12. Captain?
Gore just endorsed Dean, Dean didn't put him in charge of the campaign.

15. No!
Gore is the past. Yes, we all know he got screwed by the Supreme Five, but the party needs to move forward.

And I'd remind everybody that he ran a TERRIBLE campaign which is the only thing that allowed Bush to get close enough to steal the race.

16. Gore could beat Dean
That's what makes this early endorsement even more bizarre.
