Did anyone attend Dean's fundraiser last night
I was watching MSNBC's coverage of the Dean/Gore announcement in Iowa and a fundraiser with raunchy jokes was mentioned. I am curious as to the following. Who told jokes with the N word in them? Who told jokes about sexual orientation? Who told jokes about Asians?

1. No, but I heard it was filled with Republicans pretending to be Democrats

2. I am assuming the jokes were told
the reporter claimed to have been there. But I suspect there is a huge thing he has left out.

3. I heard Gore is a BFEE enabler and PNACer who wants Dean to win...
So he can lose, and Gore can win in 08.

It was in counterpunch and RW blogs. It must be true.

4. You know what i heard
Howard Dean actually is a brain eating zombie, and that's why he's trying to get close to Al Gore. Al Gore has a nice big knowledge filled brain.

No wait a second I read this wrong, that's actually Dick Cheney.

Dean Objects to Ethnic Humor at a Comedyfest in His Honor
By JODI WILGOREN

Published: December 9, 2003

bout 200 people who donated $250 each to Howard Dean's presidential campaign gathered last night in the ballroom of the Metropolitan Pavilion in Chelsea for an evening of dessert and comedy and a greeting from their candidate.

But as the warm-up acts told bawdy jokes and used epithets referring to African-Americans and homosexuals, the guest of honor was in a room next door wondering whether he should appear onstage.

When the M.C., Kate Clinton, introduced Dr. Dean, she had to stall for a few minutes, because he was still fuming in the other room. A few minutes later, he took the stage and apologized for what he called offensive language. "I just don't have much tolerance for ethnic humor," he said. "We are all one community."

6. Good ol' David Cross
I guess Dean's not a big fan. Oh well. There's no accounting for taste.

8. Not about taste
What the hell is Dean supposed to do when he has to follow that? He's selling inspiration and they're marginalizing his message before he even gets out there. I love David Cross. I mean LOVE David Cross. The problem is that Dean should never have shown up to speak there.

7. David Cross is hilarious
but never tell a performer to "Keep it clean".

On the other hand, people like Cross and Garofalo, hilarious people, need to learn the difference between a comedy tour and a fundraiser for a candidate. THey put him in a tough position.

10. thanks to all
I do see what happened here. I have to give the MSNBC guy this he played it fairly stright. I had figured the jokes about blacks were from a black comidian and those about gays and asians were from Cho. Turns out I was wrong. This should be a lesson to the campaign no more comedy acts without some sort of prior approval.
