Lieberman's reaction to Gore's endorsement of Dean
What a crybaby! Gore knew Holy Joe didn't have a ghost of a chance.

The endorsement of Dean is a sign that Lieberman's candidacy is toast!
I think after the NH primary, some people are going to bow out because of all this. I hope Joe is one of them!

1. Lieberman has
given FoxNews fodder. Fox is going nuts over this saying, those mean democrats... Gore endorsed someone else and didn't even call Lieberman. Poor Joe needed to find out from the media. Democrats are so mean. Wahhhhh.

God, I hate Fox News.

Joe......go join your own kind! REPUBLICANS!

We are tired of stooges like you ruining the Democratic Party. Time to step aside and let the Democratic Party become the People's Party once again.

5. Begala was harping on the same point on cnn this am
Something about manners. MANNERS! The WH was stolen, our liberties are in ASHCROFT'S hands and Americans are dying daily in a war of choice. Manners, my eye.

What kind of manners was Joe using when he said postdated ballots should be counted in FL, hmmm. Not too mannerly to Al, was he?

So: Not just Fox but CNN ran with this.

I picked up some details between a dozen articles. It seems that Dean and Gore spoke several days ago about Tuesday as the day to endorse and Gore wanted it to not be leaked. In fact, Dean told Trippi he needed a charter and wouldn't tell him why. He didn't tell Judith til just before.

The leak Mon pm came from an associate of Gore's. One of the reason's Al had said not to leak was that he planned to call some of the candidates Mon pm to give them a heads up. It leaked so I guess he didn't call but I don't know that.

Say good-bye, Joe.

Al's not as IRRELEVANT as you thought, is he?

6. I'm sorry, but this knee-jerk "he had it coming" stuff is kind of lame.
Do you honestly believe that Joe shouldn't have been allowed a negative reaction to this? Geez.

I disagree with Joe's politics just like just about everyone else, but give the guy a break. This had to be an enormous shock. He was Gore's running mate, for Heaven's sake.

I think he had a reasonable expectation to hear about it from Gore personally before it was front-page news. Reacting negatively to such an obvious slight is human nature.

7. AP reported.
That Gore was planning on calling Lieberman --- and all the other candidates about the endorsement before announcing it, but someone leaked it before that, making it moot. I don't see how you can blame Gore for that, except for may be trusting a few too many people w/the news.

8. Weeeelll, Gore's had enough years to know who to trust
with secrets. It was a tacky leak. Not bad or wrong or evil, but it was tacky. Gore has had better moments.

9. Sure, we can blame Gore for it. He certainly could have called
Lieberman after the leak and before the official announcement.

It is certainly possible he was worried about Joe leaking it to the media, but honestly, I'm not so sure why they were so secretive about it in the first place. They still got to make a big deal out of it and it got the press they were looking for.

My point is - it seems a little dumb to criticize Lieberman for what was so obviously a shocking development. Nearly anyone would react negatively in that situation.

10. I agree. I am definitely no Lieberman fan,
but common courtesy says that Gore should have notified him before it hit the news.
