Getting ready for the Reagan memorials...
"The Ronald Reagan Legacy Project is already working to name at least one notable public landmark in his honor in each state and all 3067 U.S. counties. My mind reels at the possibilties.

Conveniently blocked from our collective memory by the edifice of manufactured glory will be Reagan’s support for Saddam Hussein, Reagan's Nicaraguan terrorist “Freedom Fighters,” Reagan's violation of the Boland Amendment, Reagan's Iran-Contra scandal, Reagan's Beirut disaster, Reagan's arms for hostages deal, Reagan's denial of the AIDS epidemic, Reagan's wreath-laying at Bitburg, Reagan's close ties with Ferdinand Marcos, John Poindexter, James Watt…SOMEBODY STOP ME!! "

I thinks he's right.

2. If those don't pan out
there's a public toilet I know of that would be perfect to name after that diaper-shitting travesty of a president.

4. well i`ve got all
the memorials i can stand. funny not to many people show up and tour the "hallowed ground" he used to walk on. it`s kinda funny he`s really not well liked around here, there was a bridge named after him but after a few years they changed it back to the original name.

5. If they succeed...
we can just wait 15 years and rename everything after Clinton, "The Peace President" (which is what everyone will know him as after a decade of constant war, regardless of the strikes on Iraq, Kosovo, etc.).

7. Republicans do this because their policies aren't much of a legacy.
It's the only explanation I can come up with for their incessant need to name everything.

8. The Reagan Years SUCKED!
Sheesh....they just finally shut up about Bob Hope around here (I live close to his house) cripes. Nothing against the man but for God's sake the way they were going on and on, like it's such a tragedy he didn't live to be 200 instead of 100, and all these 19, 20, 21 year old boys coming home in bags every day, or with their limbs blown off...you never even hear their names any more.

9. Oh, you mean
Renegade Ronny's about to pop his clogs? Don't start digging yet....

According to his daughter Patty, her dad sleeps most of the time. He could hang in there quite a while longer...

12. I heard that too
about him sleeping all the time. What I want to know is how that's any different from his conduct while he was in office.

14. I say we start naming dumps after him
and get ahead of the curve. The Ronald Reagan Memorial Landfill. The Ronald Reagan Memorial Sewage Treatment Facility. The Ronald Reagan Memorial Homeless Shelter. The list goes on...

15. That's too good for him
It would make it look like Reagan had compassion for the homeless or led the fight to clean up land and water.

I suggest we come up with a unit of measure -- the Reagan -- for something like a unit of national indebtedness.

Example:

"George W. Bush has propossed a seven Reagan budget plan."

Side benefit: those idiots who want to kick FDR off the dime can introduce a new coin that has a negative value (you have to pay a real dime to whomever gives one to you) and we'd call it a nanoreagan.
