Big Media is winning again

in its relentless campaign to get Bush "re"-elected. It looks like they are going to begin campaigning for Dean for the nomination and, if they succeed, we might as well resign ourselves to four more years of GOP rule.

Last night Malloy led off with an e-mail from Raymond in MI, who said that alot of his GOP friends have said that Clark is the ONLY Dem candidate they would consider crossing over and voting for. And that's in the North. No Southern white male independent/undecided will vote for Dean. Not one. Our shrinking Southern delegation - Ford, Landrieu, Pryor, Cleland, Graham - probably won't even bother to campaign for him. And if by chance he should carry a red state or two, his coattails will be zilch.

Sorry to say, but nowadays perception is to reality as 5 is to 1, and to middle-America, we are the party of pointy-headed, effete intellectuals, and the GOP is the party of straight-talking, ass-kicking alpha-males. We need to nominate a forceful Southern war hero to prove that it's possible to be an intellectual AND an ass-kicking alpha male, and that such people live in the Democratic party, whilst the GOP is primarily tough-talking chickenhawks.

1. Tweety tonight: Carter and Sharpton "how to defeat Dean"...

they frame the debate...they should talk about about the economy , the jobs, medicare reform hoax ...soc. security future.

But NO....they don't talk about real issues and how can our country get better.

The media is amazing in this country. This is a chance to educate/inform the public on the real issues that effect them.

And actually DO something if this is a very serious concern???

Dennis Kucinich stood up and did something in the debate last night, but I would think at least someone whining about it here might consider going to journalism school....

Or putting together websites and learning how to publicize them so it is noticed. Or putting together independent media. Or trying to work with Al Gore and others working on alternative liberal media.

Simple whining and moaning without action does support the status quo.

It's easier to attack Dean rather than come up with a substanative alternative or to advance a 'better' message.

We're just as vulnerable to GOP propagands as Republicans are. We have to think for ourselves and stop expecting the mass media to be objective.

8. " Dean can't win" is NOT a GOP talking point

I've never heard that from any Republican. It's a talking point for those of us that are worried that it is true. It's a Democratic talking point and it is something that MUST be addressed.

3. So in running the media...

We should see a headline "No independent or undecided voter in the South will vote for Dean"...based on what???

I'm waiting for the investigative reporting on this one...the polls, the interviews, the demographic data, historical comparisons, etc.

Without the real investigation, this post is simple opinion...no better than any of the media is currently doing.

Be careful when you're blasting if you have no proof of how it can or is being done better.

5. Why leave out one Southern senator

who is from Arkansas? I'm talking about Blanche Lincoln. True, she's nearly a DINO, but I think she'd be willing to stump the state for the Dem nominee.

As for your assessment of Southerners-I know of Southern Republicans from Boone County AR who are NOT voting Bush next year because he scares the bejesus out of them. I know of Southern Libertarians who are contemplating voting Democrat because they, too, want Bush out of office. Neither of these groups of folks see the Dems as "pointy-headed, effete intellectuals". (For those of you who don't know, Boone Co AR is one of the most conservative counties in the state.)

I think it is imperative that ALL Democratic candidates bring out the facts about the Bush mal-administration and present it to people like these. I know I'm working on it, and I hope that other Dems living in the South are doing the same thing. Don't write off the South. It can be won.
