Under Bush, Evil Piles Up So Fast My Outrage Can't Keep Up
So Sunday morning I heard about the Saturday raid in which we killed 9 children in Afghanistan to take out one guy. So Monday I wrote this week's column about that:

http://www.democraticunderground.com/plaidder/03/07.html

And it goes up this morning. Now that's a less than 48 hour time lag, but already, between when I wrote it and when it went up:

* it turns out that the day BEFORE the raid I talked about, we attacked another compound and killed 6 Afghan children

* the U.S. military has gone from expressing 'regret' to claiming that they can't be held responsible for these deaths, because dropping bombs onto a residential compound doesn't kill noncombatants, uh, noncombatants kill themselves by being too close to our targets.

* the CPA has now ordered the Iraqi health ministry to stop counting civilian casualties.

(insert here what you would be reading if there wasn't that rule about profanity and excessive capitalization/punctuation in the GD forum)

Every time you think they have hit bottom, they turn around and surprise you. No, we don't need to know how many of the Iraqi people we were so concerned about liberating have died as a result of our own actions. Why would we give a--hoot--about that? It's not like we started this war to make their lives better, or anything.

(more stuff I can't put in a thread-starting post in the GD forum),

The Plaid Adder

1. it's only a matter of time til the gloves come off completely
and the mask is dropped. Then we might expect the same sort of oppression last seen at Kent State..... For now, at least we are able to research and document misdeeds, lies, outrages and scandals. And no, Virginia, the Bush administration doesn't care what you think.

3. the gloves are indeed on
We, the common people, still have free speech - in that we can speak freely among ourselves. I haven't heard of any mysterious suicides or small plane crashes involving DUers yet. So far free speech hasn't been a problem for Bushco because they control the press, and what the hairspray-journalists say on TV has far more influence with the prols than we do. After 2005 it might be a different story.

15. Yes, the gloves are still on for the Busheviks
And yes, it's very possible that after 2005 the clamps come down.

If the Busheviks aren't stopped then these last 3 years of horror, fraud and theft and murder will almost certainly be "The Good Old Days" to our enslaved and ignorant (the Busheviks desire to destroy and deny education to the bottom 80%) great-grandchildren.

4. I was just reading about these slaughters in the Scotsman
There is a lot of anger out there in the rest of the world. Every country is talking about how awful we are. And we sit here unaware of any of this anger because of our 'liberal' media.

6. Right, Adder.
We should not take anything for granted here in the United States. And don't think they're not aware of places like the DU. There's already talk of having some sort of authority overseeing "rogue" places on the Internet.

Our freedoms were not handed to us. We had to fight for every one. Some have paid with their lives, so that the rest of us could have the freedoms we take so much for granted. And I do believe that the Bush administration wants to take away as many freedoms from me as they possibly can, along with the rest of the world.

I know that personally, I will keep posting until they pry my little fingers from the keyboard and close this place down.

7. Targeting civilian areas is against the...
...Geneva convention and every known international law.

- But the Bushies have put themselves above the law. We can reasonably conclude that Republicans won't put a stop to this madness...so it's left up to us...the Democratic party...to put an end to it once and for all.

9. Plaid Adder....I just want to weigh in
I have felt this same thing for so long now, my bones are beginning to bend under the weight of it. It's like a wild-fire raging out of control. I see the burned corpses everywhere....

Whether it's small businesses put out of business, along with their employees (previously in the U.S., a full 75% of all jobs were provided by small businesses), or the innocent children / wedding parties being bombed...the heartbreak and tragic losses across the whole spectrum of life is shattering.

I just also want to tell you....you are a kick-ass writer. All the pieces you write are clear, well-written, and hit right in the gut. Thanks for your contributions, and keep up the good work.

10. CPA = ?
Three days and nights of my youngest puking have left me unable to interpret CPA.

Please translate. I'm sure it's easy, but it is escaping me. Something about the provisional authority, yes?

Plaid Adder, I love your writing. Keep it up. We do pay attention.

14. Coalition Provisional Authority
A more accurate term would be USPA or BFEEPA.

I share it.

Right now, it seems that too many posting here are directing their anger in the wrong direction.

13. don't be alarmed, just a case of B.O.O.S.
Bush Outrage Overload Syndrome

characterized by the inability to complete a response to the current outrage because 10 more outrages have occurred since you began your reaction.

unfortunately, the only known cure is impeachment or defeat of * in the next election.
