I suspect this: Too many out there Fooled by the Pub PsyOp Brain washing machine. Their reason comped by the RW "rhetoric".

What is it that allows a person to go for the propaganda and become passionate "Believers"?

Is it the Groupie Peer thing? "Well, everyone else here believes it"

Is it nuerological/chemical? Like some of us can Reason with clarity and others with difficulty?

Perception? Glass half full? or half empty?

There seems a lacking in America, Clear Water.

Why do we muddy it so much?

Are we doomed as a Flawed Species, unable to untie our differences and unite?

Is there that much excitement in Hate, war, etc etc evil things that we forget. forego. the excitement of safe travel, friendships, trust, luaus, national parties, FUN.???? I guess so.

Come, we make the fire walk stones hot, pour those drinks, turn the ribs on the grill.

1. Life is High School...

...especially for the mindset attracted to the Republican thought processes. Being an independent thinker is never gonna be as superficially rewarding as being embraced by a larger clique that leave the big questions unanswered and concentrates on feeling good NOW.

I remember David Leavitt wrote a really good piece in Esquire in the Eighties--wish I had it handy...and there's a part about sitting outside a Frat House after the 84 Election, and having a small desire to basically ignore everything he knew and just go in, drink beer, and dance to Huey Lewis and the News.

Lucky for us, we don't need acceptance that bad.

4. Most want to be Followers

Most humans tend to reflexively resort to a position of being a 'follower'. Won't even bother to try to guess why, it's simply a fact.

When a lot of 'respectable' sources say things like 'free trade is good', 'free trade is the future', and 'it's unstoppable, so might as well just adjust to it', who are they to argue? Most don't know the details, the history of trade policy, or how global issues are impacted.

Similarly, when the media says that we 'have to stay in Iraq', 'have to win the peace', etc... people have lost their memory -- this is the same rhetoric used to keep us in Vietnam all those years ago. We must think differently if we're to avoid repeating the mistakes of the past, but we're continually herded and encouraged to subscribe to groupthink such as this.

With the media no longer in the business of educating the voting public about the issues which are critical to their maintaining the functioning of their democracy, what more could you possibly expect?

Critical thinking is really sorely needed.

5. Perhaps a lesson from the Capitalist System the Pubs so endear

Make Critical Thinking a rewarding activity, like the PGA/NFL/NBA etc

If we put our mind to it, it can happen.

We now have Robot wars, Junkyard wars, etc etc Thinking, fabrication competitions are alive and well, they are growing.

It is TIME for the THINKERs to step into the void. Where the hell are they? We don't have to fight our way to solutions, we can think our way to the good Luau.
