Hey, average Joe...spent your $300 yet?

I did, or at least half of it, last week. My mother gave my kid a car for his 18th bday. An old Escort I was not too comfortable with, but a car nonetheless.

We discussed just slapping a "for sale" sign on it, or using it for trade toward a cheap Hyudai with a warranty. So, I went to the registry, filed my papers, handed over my $140, and got my plates.

And, according to the nice lady at the DMV..."Due to state budget cuts, you'll receive your title in about five months."

No typo there. Not "weeks," MONTHS.

Gosh...if I only owned a Bentley or a big black Towne Car, something tells me the Luxury Car set spent their tax cuts differently, and wouldn't be too upset about waiting five months for their personal assistants to tell them their title had arrived.
