Who runs against Hillary in 2006?

I'm wondering if the democrats lose in 2004, whether Hillary would run for re-election at all. She might just want to concentrate on the 2008 presidential campaign.

He was always able to get Democrats to vote for him. I don't see Hillary losing, she has worked very hard at being a good Senator for New York. Schumer might be vulnerable... when is he up for reelection?

14. Running against HRC

It seems as if Rudy will run for Guv. While this is good for Hilary, it is bad for Eliot Spitzer - NY State's very capable and powerful AG who has made a name for himself fighting corrupt corporations. He looked to be the odds on favorite to be the gubernatorial nominee for the Dems, and Giuliani can probably take him.

Pataki might run for Senate - but Hilary could probably beat him. His popularity has waned of late - and she has really done well to position herself as a thoughtful, hard working centrist.

She is, of course, poisonous. If she is ever the presidential nominee, bank on the Republican winning. I like her - but to too many people, she will never be acceptable. It may not be right, but it is so.

I kind of hope she sticks around and becomes an elder stateswoman in the Senate ala Ted Kennedy.

As for Schumer - he's up in 2004 - and should be re-elected. He could face this guy:

19. My thoughts on this

1. Schumer could beat that guy without a problem! Seriously? That website is hilarious! I don't know if the Republicans want THAT guy! Look, his picture is creepy there is no WAY he can win.

2. Hillary could beat Pataki, Pataki has support... but he is somewhat centrist and not as fundie as the Republicans like. Besides, most of his support came from Guiliani as the NY mayor- and now he's out.

3. Guiliani running for Governor would be horrible but, I would DEFINITELY bank on Spitzer at least giving Guiliani a run for his money.
