Dean parody site...
http://www.deanforamericans.com

How can we find out who 'owns' this site? Seems many here may use this ridiculous site for reference?

If people are using things from that site as a reference, shouldn't the Dean supporters set the record straight?

17. So which quotes are false? I'm asking because

That site doesn't seem to be the only one that has them.

There isn't much you can do about a site put up by a private individual, but it seems like Dean himself would want to get with the regular news sites that have these same quotes.

26. Are you saying that the quotes are genuine?

I don't support any of the candidates, but I believe they all have the same right to free speech as you or I do, and I believe that AP, CNN, whatever, have a responsibility to quote them accurately, and if they don't, then Dean's office should not hesitate to document the inaccuracy.

If the quotes are genuine, I'm kind of confused, what is the problem?
Dean has the right to express his opinion! In fact, since he is running for President, I would be surprised if he didn't express it.

32. He either said the things or he didn't

If he didn't, then there are some major news organizations that need to be held accountable.

If he did, and you support him, why would you call his words "trash?"

44. No bait here. Curious why you seem ashamed of his positions tho

I have been privately informed, and my own googling seems to indicate, that the quotes attributed to Dean on this person's site are factual, and what Dean said.

Now if you are a Dean supporter, those are your candidates' positions.

There really is no bait intended. I do not support any of the candidates, of any party, but if I did, I wouldn't have any problem saying "yes" or "no" straight out when asked "did Candidate X say thus and such."

But that is admittedly just my take, you have your own way of supporting your guy, and that's cool, too.

52. Here is some advice

If you support a candidate - any candidate, support him for what he is, and do it proudly and without shame or lies or doubletalk or tricks.

I just said this in another thread on a similar theme, but there are people who haven't made up their minds, and you are not helping your guy by acting like his positions are some shameful thing that you aren't going to "debate."

Listen, I am not a candidate. I don't have a candidate or anything to debate. I don't have an axe to grind, if Candidate X's position on Y issue is Z, that's fine with me.

All of the candidates have led very public lives. They are who they are. Their past is what it is, and their positions are what they are.

When you (or anyone else) who purports to support Dean (or anyone else) refuses to give a straight answer to the question "Did he say that?" you make your candidate look a lot worse than whatever the thing said is.

Debate is when someone wants to argue with your candidate's position.

I have no interest in doing that. All this started because I merely asked if the quotes were real. Simple yes or no question.

Since I asked, I have found out that they were. I have also found out that you apparently wish they weren't.

And thanks for thinking I am so technical that I could produce such an elaborate website, but after preaching about honesty I will have to confess that I still feel a little thrill of triumph every time I turn the computer ON successfully :)

22. Interesting site.
These are some legitimate questions that concern me as well:

10 Questions to Ask Howard

Maybe Howard can answer these questions so there can be more evidence of flip-flops.

1. Why did you support sending Vermont's nuclear waste to the poor, mostly Hispanic town of Sierra Blanca, Texas, 16 miles from the Mexican border -- a plan described as "blatant environmental racism" by Paul Wellstone?
2. Why did the Dean administration increase funding for Vermont's state colleges by only 7% while you increased funding for prisons by 150%?
3. Why did IBM, the leading polluter in Vermont, receive your Environmental Achievement Award nine times?
4. What did you mean when you said, "I've had 40 or 45 private meetings with IBM since I've been governor. And IBM has gotten pretty much everything they've asked for"?
5. Why did you wait for the courts and legislature to bring about the civil union bill before you supported it? Why did you sign the bill in private when you finally did sign it?
6. Why do you oppose the Israeli Labour Party candidate for prime minister Amram Mitzna's call for unconditional peace talks with the Palestinians?
7. While you acknowledge that you "haven't condemned Congress for passing the Patriot Act," Bernie Sanders from your own state of Vermont is leading efforts in Congress to overturn the Act. Why are you not supporting Bernie Sanders' efforts and condemning Congress for its attack on civil liberties?
8. How do you respond to Annette Smith of Vermonters For A Clean Environment who says: "Dean's attempt to run for president as an environmentalist is nothing but a fraud. He's destroyed the Agency of Natural Resources, he's refused to meet with environmentalists while constantly meeting with developers, and he's made the permitting process one, big dysfunctional joke. EP under Governor Dean meant Expedite Permits, not Environmental Protection"?
9. Since you pride yourself on your "fiscal responsibility" who do you refuse to even consider any decreases in the bloated Pentagon budget?
10. Why did you go skiing in Aspen, Colorado and become a ski bum after getting a Vietnam Back Injury Deferral less than two months?
