Just a little economical reflexion about the Wolfy idiocy
Edited on Wed Dec-10-03 08:25 PM by BonjourUSA
If the USA don't want to spend a very, very, very long time for the rebuilding of Iraq they obviously need all the strongest companies all over the world

Where are they?. In the USA, of course, and in Europe. And I don't know an european companie which is technically, financially and logistically strong enough for this challenge without French or German participation (often the first).

1. This is pay backs pure and simple. Wolfie is a nazi
bastard. This might not even be legal under international
competition law. If we expect Russia to cancel eight billion
dollars of Iraqi debt -they just said they won't- and other
countries to give us money and troops, we can kiss that
goodbye because we are under the control of nazis.

That's it in a nutshell.

2. If this goes through Bush can kiss some states goodbye ;^)
The EU has already caught on that they can dictate US economic policy by threatening tariffs against certain key GOP states. There are several trade issues in the hopper that can trigger those tariffs IF the EU wants to do it.

After the way Dubya caved on the Steel Industry, even the dumbest bulbs in Europe have seen the light.

If the WTO decides this plan is against its rules, where do you think the Europeans will apply the pressure.

The Bush administration: worse than evil, it's stupid.

3. Worst. Imperialists. Ever.
This isn't the first time that the Bush administration has done things that have not only flown in the face of logic, but were actually counter to their own perceived interests.

One can only infer that there are other motivations, other than 'success', that drive their actions. One that seems immediately obvious is the desire to avoid blame and responsibility. Vindictiveness as well.

I think we could eventually socialize the members of the Bush administration, given several years of hard work, therapy and a controlled environment. Medication may be indicated for several of them, in particular, the one who calls himself 'The President'.

4. but why would you think they don't want to spend a long time rebuilding?
Bush certainly wants to appear to be withdrawing, militarily, in time for his re-election campaign, but there is no reason to think he and Halliburton don't want to milk the Iraqi rebuilding for as long as possible. Why should they?

they're making out like bandits.

Americans will say our (formerly loyal) allies did not support us, but we did have support in Afghanistan...a situation considered a justifiable invasion.

With Iraq, our nation not only ignored other western democracies, our leaders and their media whores worked hard to demonize any opposition from other western democracies, AND worked doubly hard to ignore the millions across the world who opposed this invasion.

...so naturally it is important to look like we are "punishing" those western countries which acted as their citizens wanted them to, otherwise we might have to talk about the rightness of this invasion, and its real costs.

but more than anything, this invasion was about the control of Iraqi resources, whether this is legal or not (and it's not).
