boycott of media on behalf of DK
Edited on Wed Dec-10-03 11:54 PM by Ficus
We need to make a list of every media outlet who is outright ignoring Dennis Kucinich. Well that would be most of the media, but I mean specific examples such as ABC.

I know someone else said a NY Times reporter said he blatantly ignores Kucinich, in addition to them having NO coverage for the debate in 12/9's edition. We need more examples and links.

This is happening to more than just DK, and we need to start a huge boycott of the media responsible to show them they cannot ignore the Democratic point of view.

Democrats unite. It may be my candidate today, and yours tomorrow!

1. They certainly need to learn
that we will not go away just because they ignore us. Maybe that is what they think. Time to let them know better.

10. Yes, believe it or not
I have! Never polled but I have been asked to do media surveys. Boycott their advertisers, express your displeasure with them as well.

11. The point I'm making is that YOU HAVE TO TELL THEM you are boycotting
otherwise they won't notice...

14. I just added
some info in the post. But you are correct. This is the first step of organizing - finding a base of support. I am looking to DU...

You do NEED The Daily Show for information.

9. Oh yeah.
It was kinda bad, now that I remember it...it seemed like no one told DK what The Daily Show was.

13. Oh, if that's the case.
I thought you were gonna rip me a new one, sorry. Yeah, he was really nervous, and like I said, it didn't seem like anyone told him the kind of show The Daily Show is. He didn't know how to react, and it came off terribly.

Later.

16. Have the other campaigns push back

How about asking your respective candidates boycott ABC. This needs to be a fair competition. The notion that Koppel would describe Braun and Sharpton's efforts as "vanity campaigns" was infuriating. They all have an important message, and if not for them, some topics simply would not be covered.

So how about this - post to your candidate's blogs, email their campaigns, talk to your local leadership - and ask ALL of the candidates to dismiss ABC until the "entrenched" reporters return to the Kucinich, Braun and Sharpton campaigns.

Thoughts?

19. I am skeptical
I think that certain candidates really want these voices to be silenced.

17. In addition
What I would like to see (though I seriously doubt it would happen), is a published apology to Dennis Kucinich, from Ted Koppel.

Last night, the audience was 100% behind Kucinich when he talked about the media's bias and we should be too.

18. I agree
an apology to DK, the Rev, and CMB is in order. The way they were treated was horrendous.

21. gimme a break
The guy's had many months to inspire a base, he started out at about the same level of crediblity as Howard Dean, but one's campaign took fire while the other's fizzled. Now, this far in, he, Sharpton and Braun don't even find their support within the statistical margin of error, and news organizations have to move on at some point. I'm not sure of the other networks, but other than MSNBC who has a 24-hour cable network to supplement NBC's coverage, I doubt anyone else was giving the level of coverage that ABC was offering for a TV network.
