Republican Gov of MD has cut many programs for the elderly.
Word from my sister who lives in MD and who tried to get her 94-year old mom-in-law into some country services that had been provided to the elderly was turned down and was told that orders have come down the pike to be more restrictive and some waiver programs were cut out altogether because of the governers policies to make huge cut backs in social service budgets.

I would like to know if anyone else out there has experienced the same problems or similar? I live in PA and the PA Lottery pays for a lot of benefits to the elderly which in my opinion are the greatest in the country so we haven't noticed any major cut backs in programs for the elderly to my knowledge.

The one thing I have noticed is that highway tolls have gone through the roof in DE,NJ, and PA in efforts to cover cuts to Fed funds to the states.

1. I've heard Eldritch isn't that popular down in MD
I think the folks from MD are regretting turning the power over to an idiot like him.

3. Yes, they have cut out a lot in SC
We used to be able to go to the state parks for 1/2 price, but no more for one.

5. MD is swimming in a sea of red
Ehrlich sees slots as the cure-all, but can't get support. And he won't raise taxes. So, here we are.

Despite a brightening economy, Gov. Robert L. Ehrlich Jr. said yesterday that he is planning cuts to nearly every corner of state government so that he can present lawmakers in January with a balanced budget that does not increase taxes.

Ehrlich and his budget secretary, James C. "Chip" DiPaula Jr., told an economic conference that of 54 programs in the state's $11 billion operating budget, only two -- public education and Medicaid -- would grow in the next fiscal year.

"We are pretty much trimming everywhere else in the budget to make room for education and Medicaid," DiPaula said, adding later: "It's very likely that most, if not all will have reductions."
