Daily Democrat: A positive discussion about Carol Moseley Braun
In an effort to provide for some enlightening discussion, rather than partisan flaming, the administrators have decided to post regular threads about the candidates for the Democratic nomination which are reserved for positive discussion only. These threads will be called the "Daily Democrat".

Currently, we intend to post two Daily Democrat discussion threads per day. If a particular thread becomes too long, then the moderators will open additional threads as necessary. These discussion threads will be allowed to stay open until the next two Daily Democrat threads are opened at some point the following day.

THE RULES

The rules for these Daily Democrat candidate threads are as follows. (For the purposes of these rules, the candidate who is the subject of the thread is referred to as the "Daily Democrat".)

1. You are welcome to post anything positive about the Daily Democrat. You can explain why you support that person. You can dispel myths about that candidate. You can discuss that person's positions on various issues. Whatever.

2. You are allowed to favorably compare the Daily Democrat to other candidates, provided that you are not unnecessarily inflammatory or antagonistic to the other candidates.

3. You may not post attacks of any kind against the Daily Democrat. Furthermore, you cannot post criticism and try to pass it off as a compliment ("I enthusiastically support candidate X because he ruined his state's economy!")

4. You may not discuss the supporters of any candidate (that goes for the the Daily Democrat, or any other candidate).

5. Undecided voters are encouraged to ask questions about the Daily Democrat in order to better inform their choice. Note that criticism disguised as a question will not be allowed.

6. You may not start another discussion thread for the purposes of responding to comments made in the "Daily Democrat" thread. Sorry -- you just have to suck it up and let the positive discussion continue uninterrupted.

7. I will not babysit the Daily Democrat thread, because I believe it will not be necessary. It is the responsibility of every member to know and follow the rules. Deliberate disruption of the Daily Democrat thread, or efforts by opponents to influence the Daily Democrat thread, will result in the banning of the individual(s) responsible.

8. I reserve the right to change the rules as necessary to make this work.

TIMING

We will discuss two Daily Democrats per day, and cycle through the list of presidential candidates in modified alphabetical order.

She has the best Healthcare plan
It is well thought out and it will work. Unfortunately most democrats don't yet have the guts to say so.
Carol is also wellspoken, intelligent and graceful under pressure. I don't think she has a chance to win the nomination, however I would love to see her as the VP.

1. She has the absolutely BEST smile...
Of any candidate. And if we can accept that ALL the candidates have made mistakes in their lives, have grown/learned from them, then CMB is as qualified as the next guy to represent us in '04.

3. Carol Mosley-Braun was the best senator to ever represent me
I would be proud to have her represent me again in any fashion, including as President of the United States of America.

4. Best health insurance proposal
I'm self employed and have to buy my own family's health insurance for $ 800 + per month.

Carol-Mosley Braun has the best health insurance proposal out there in my opinion.

As a PS: I currently have two job offers from major companies to shut down my business and go to work for them. I am currently negotiating with one of the companies. If the negotiations are satisfactory, I will shut my business down as of Jan 1. That will be too bad, especially for my employee, but the no benefits, high taxes, no time and constant hassles of running your own business just isn't worth it to me anymore. I will be taking a large pay cut if I do the move, but the benefits will largely make up for that.

If Carol Mosley-Braun's healthcare proposal was current law, there's a good chance I wouldn't even be thinking of shutting down.

5. She is one of the most personally likable candidates
with her warm smile and consistent grace and good humor.

And she's right on the issues, too.

6. What's not to like?
She's smart, she's progressive, she's gorgeous and, IMHO, has run the classiest campaign out of all the Democratic primary contenders. Besides, I flirted shamelessly with one of her staffers for a good 20 minutes one day. B-)

7. Her positivity and good old fashion common sense
are things that impress me the most. She represents women well and we the members of Delta Sigma Theta Sorority are very proud of our sister.

8. I am glad she is running
I wish more Democratic women ran for president. Her participation in the debates is eagerly welcomed by me, especially when she calls for taking off the "men only" sign from the White House door, and her stand for civil liberties, repealing the Patriot Act, and advocating single-payer healthcare.

One of my New Zealand friends on DU spoke highly of Carol's service as ambassador to her country. She was pleased that she is running for president, and so am I.

9. She stays focus on the critical....
issues: healthcare, jobs, and education;and is above the pity sniping.
It will awesome if the media would just listen to her platform and say it is a good as the other candidates. This would seriously improve her voice across the nation.

10. I'm voting for Carol
Because of her unflinching support of civil rights and liberties. To me the most disturbing aspect of Republican rule has been the trammeling of our consititution. Whether it's because of the cabal taking over after 911, part of some fundamentalist revolution, BFEE shenanigans, plain old fashion father-knows-best moralism: Whatever its etiology, it sucks. Carol has always stood up for ordinary citizens, fighting to make sure that government works for them, that the instruments of government are not turned against them because of who they are or what they believe.

Big government: YES! Big Brother: NO!

That's one of the chief reasons I'm voting for Carol Moseley Braun.

13. Carol Moseley-Braun
CMB is an accomplished politician, for sure -- but I've been struck by her grace and her humor, as well as her intelligence. She has stood out through these debates because of her class. I like hearing what she has to say and I like her style.
As I've said about my senator, Debbie Stabenow, I'd like to have her as a neighbor.
John
She'd be a fine nominee, though it'll never happen. But I hope the eventual winner reserves a cabinet slot for her (or maybe ambassador to the UN -- she does have diplomatic experience).

is great... she tells it like it is and is closer to my true standing on the issues than any of them (though thats only on the ones I've heard from her).

15. I met her the other day at college
Very, very, smart woman.

The more I look back at the "scandal" that ran her out of office the more it fits in to concerted efforts to destroy elected black women with tactics that a white male politician would shrug off without a struggle.

18. It's rather obvious she's not afraid of a challenge!
And she has faced some real bigotry with style and grace (thinking of some of the Senate stories I heard about her).
