Local man's story almost too good to be true
After a 22-year military career as a special agent involved in security and criminal investigations, during which he traveled throughout the world, Cristobal Hernandez Jr. has returned to Casa Grande, his hometown.
It reads like a scenario for a Hollywood movie: The exploits of a small-town, teen-age Hispanic troublemaker, a high school dropout, who joins the military, becomes an officer and a special agent for the CID(Criminal Investigation Division), goes on to conduct personal security missions for high-ranking government officials, rises to the position of personal security officer to the Supreme Allied Commander in Europe and eventually ends up working on a committee to help his former commander become president of the United States. If one were to submit such an outline to a Hollywood producer, the chances are very good that he or she would have it sent back stamped: "Rejected. Too much of a stretch and corny as all get out."
