This is why we must fight the neo-cons
This is the truest statement I have ever seen so far.

http://www.sunspot.net/news/opinion/oped/bal-op.ebadi11dec11,0,7081508.story?coll=bal-oped-headlines

from the lecture delivered yesterday in Oslo, Norway, by Iranian activist Shirin Ebadi on her acceptance of the Nobel Peace Prize.

A human being divested of all dignity, a human being deprived of human rights, a human being gripped by starvation, a human being beaten by famine, war and illness, a humiliated human being and a plundered human being is not in any position or state to recover the rights he or she has lost.

We cannot allow the neo-cons to take control of our society or we will see more of the same in the above mentioned article.

It's a good thing there are still some progressives in this country. I would hate to think what would happen if there were not.

4. I think we all need to detox..lol
I thought it was a great article too. She mentioned how 9/11 has been used as a pretext to violate human rights around the world, including here.

5. If we allow them to take away our rights
It will be hell trying to get them back.

6. If we allow them to take our rights this time around
only violence and bloodshed will get them back, and even then it probably won't.

Look at the Roman Empire, look at Nazi Germany, in both cases of Republics sezied by dictators, only the forcible dismembermment of those places changed anything.

And in the case of the Romans, what replaced the Empire was worse.
Which is my point. Amerika is at that phase of history where rights lost to the Imperial Family are rights lost forever, IMHO.

7. I think you may be right.
But I hope you're wrong about the forever part. One step forward and two steps back seems to be the plight of the human family.

Or, yes, our culture could be gone forever as the Romans.

8. We are not just fighting for ourselves
We are also fighting for all the world's peoples. For an end to the cycle of violence.

Look, the rest of the world has no problem with itself (out of Africa), excepted where the USA still want to be involved.

11. I was speaking in the sense
That we should not allow the PNACs to keep taking countries for thier resources. I should have put it better. My apologies.
