Something really bugs me about the Iraq contracts
Edited on Thu Dec-11-03 01:35 PM by HEyHEY
This arguing over what countries get the contracts is disgusting. People died in that hell pit, now people are arguing over who gets to make money off it. This is a nice solid example of the kind of scumbags there are out there.

I bet none of them lost a son or daughter in this war...they don't even care about that though do they? And in the scramble for cash the arguing started showing the true colours of those who supported this war.
I'm done.

5. And so is Europe. They didn't make this much fuss about the invasion

They rubber-stamped the occupation, every day the US violates every provision of 4th Geneva, and any other international law agreement you can think of, but we don't hear about the EU meeting on THAT, to see what action they can take.

The real outrage for Europe is whether the US will let them have any of the Iraqi peoples' money.

Any money for anything done in Iraq should go to IRAQI people, IRAQI companies, not US companies, not French ones, not Russian ones.

The other day, one poster was asking why there is so much talk in the Majority World about the West, when it is the US that is doing it all. Well, the last couple of days answer that better than any words I could say.

3. On NPR Yesterday
Heard McClelland (I think that's who it was) talking about the contracts. He kept saying something about only the companies from countries that supported the war should be able to "bid on" these contracts (worth $12 or so billion). I kept thinking he was going to say "profit from". He made it sound as if the bidders were doing noble deeds by bidding. Bottom Line McClelland: It ain't noble, it's money.

I also get tired of hearing the excuse: For "security" reasons. I can just hear the guy in the car next to me saying "OH! Security! Then it's OK!"

6. what REALLY bugs me about the Iraq contracts:
they are not being written and decided-upon by IRAQIS!!

:grr::mad::grr:

we are plundering this country, STEALING its resources and industries, and all we hear on the news is about who WE will decide to share it with, and how unfair it is to certain countries that WE don't like...

fuck WE, what about THEM???? Do Iraqis have NO SAY AT ALL in who profits from their wealth and misery??????
