In 2 hours, I'll be protesting against Oliver North!

The little poopiehead of a convicted felon is speaking in my town tonight, and he will not get into MY district without opposition!

We've got our signs, we've got our bullhorns, and most importantly, I've got TWO copies of the Iran/Contra Report by Lawrence Walsh, Independent Prosecutor. One copy to read from outside the event, and one to give to the media after he LIES and says he was never convicted. North has been telling people that he was "never convicted" (see Randi Rhodes)

And when he does it again tonight, we want the media to hear it.

Since Hannity is a robot programmed by Karl Rove, the conversation inevitably turns to Bill Clinton. And you'll have Hannity, North and Colmes talking about something, and Hannity will bring up how Clinton was a liar (or Hillary Clinton) and Colmes will say nothing about Oliver North.

On May 6th, 1989.

An appeals court "set aside" his convictions over a year later. They were NOT overturned (translation - not exonerated).

So for a full year, he WAS convicted on three counts.

And the next time a Repuke bitches about criminals getting out on technicalities, you remind them that Oliver North got one of those, and see how they respond.

What is the difference between set aside and overturned? I'm not anything close to a legal scholar, but does being "set aside" mean his convictions are ignored, for all intents & purposes?

Overturning a verdict means he's been exonerated, it's all over.

Setting aside means there was possible error and a retrial can take place if the prosecutor desires.
