http://www.politicsnj.com/kornacki120403_poll.htmDecember 4 - A new poll shows Governor James E. McGreevey beating both his 2001 gubernatorial rival and a celebrity candidate in a potential three-way match-up in 2005, but having some trouble securing his own party's support in his quest for a second term.
The survey of 600 registered New Jersey voters was conducted between November 30 and December 2 by The Polling Company, a Washington, D.C.-based firm headed up by Garden State native Kellyanne Conway.
Conway frequently does work for Republican candidates.
The poll found McGreevey in statistical dead heat with former Jersey City mayor Bret Schundler, the Republican nominee for governor two years ago, and rock star Bruce Springsteen, an Asbury Park native and current state resident, in a prospective '05 contest.
The matchup is purely hypothetical: Springsteen has not indicated an interest in seeking public office, though their was a small effort to draft him as a U.S. Senate candidate in 2002.
McGreevey secured 32 percent of the vote in the three-way race, just ahead of Schundler, who had 31 percent. Springsteen was the choice of 15 percent.
The poll found that Springsteen's support comes largely from African Americans, upper-income voters and self-identified liberals, constituencies that might otherwise favor McGreevey.

I'm from NJ. In my opinion, McGreevey isn't the devil many people around here are portraying him to be. He inherited a big mess from the last administration and is doing what he can giving budget constraints.
But this article made me smile thinking about the Boss as our governor. In my opinion, if he were to run, he would completely own the race and be a sure thing. He is very revered in this already Democratic state.
