Wolfowitz's Determination and Findings: We're Goin' It Alone
Edited on Thu Dec-11-03 11:54 PM by wtmusic
Wolfowitz memo from Dec. 5:

'It is necessary for the protection of the essential security interests of the United States to limit competition for the prime contracts of these procurements to companies from the United States, Iraq, Coalition partners and force contributing nations.'

Security interests? Please 'splain me how this affects US security.

'Limiting competition for prime contracts will encourage the expansion of international cooperation in Iraq and in future efforts.'

The message is, 'If you send us warm bodies to blow up, we'll consider tossing some contracts your way.' Significant also is his mention of 'future efforts'.

'The limitation of sources to prime contractors from those countries should encourage the continued cooperation of coalition members.'

'Korea, you may want to reconsider calling in those electricians...'

'I hereby determine that...it is necessary in the public interest to use other than competitive procedures in the procurements for the prime contracts...'

Is racketeering too strong a word?

Just when there's talk of progress, down comes the neocon jackboot.
